We all know Aljo is at least a TOP 5 guy at 145. It’d be bullshit if they make him fight backwards. Sterling should fight Ortega close. The grappling in the fight would be hella fun. And they both have weird striking styles. I think it would be all sorts of fun.

I think it's a reasonable fight to make in theory but Sterling will probably be 37 before Ortega is available. Ortega vs Nick Diaz vs Khamzat vs Ray Borg in a fatal 4 way where whoever actually shows up wins by default makes the most sense at this point

It's not really that hard to figure out. Look who is below Ortega and who deserves to fight up the rankings. Sterling just lost and he's ranked #9. Ortega is #6 whether we like it or not.
In a world where Ortega would stay at FW (he probably won't, but imagine) why would Sterling off a loss be the one to get an opportunity to fight him?

Sterling begging to fight up the rankings and pretending he didn't lose is weak.

Arnold Allen, Josh Emmett, Lerone Murphy, Bryce Mitchell, pick one of them to fight Ortega. Don't have a preference which one. All guys who are ranked below Ortega, without a fight booked & would deserve the step up in opposition.
