Alistair Overem is the greatest skilled HW of all time

Overeem is easily the most skilled HW ever, he is good everywhere. If he was more durable with a better chin he would already be the HW GOAT

I'll just act like most do with Anderson... The majority of his worthwhile accomplishments were before testing was random.

If Overeem had been this defensive and smart the whole time in his UFC tenure, he'd be the champ already. Definitely right now he's the most skilled. I don't think his chin is exceptionally bad, but his defense has always been crap and he leaves his chin up wide open for counters when he gets over aggressive. He also has a "heart" issue to some extent - when he gets hit hard, he shells up and goes straight backwards. When he fights smart and doesn't get hit, he looks like he could dominate anyone.

Wow! 4 fights in a row and he's the greatest of all time.

This place is hilarious.

Reem has better striking, clinch, and wrestling.

To all three of those: maybe.

I could see Fedor overwhelming Reem with strikes. He used to chuck guys off of him from the clinch like it was nothing.

He has obvious physical advantages over Fedor, but there is no way he is more skilled.

I like Fedor, but am not one of these guys that thinks prime Fedor beats all everytime... He nearly got starched by Fujita, ffs.

But it was his chin and size that were slight weaknesses. His ground game, movement with speed, intelligence in adaptation and scrambling, and even cardio were all top tier.

Overeem is really skilled, but his game is much more based off of strength.
This is just not true. Big Nog said that Fedor is physically the fastest heavyweight ever in mma. Tyson said the same thing but not just for mma but for all of combat sports. Also strength and power are two different things. For example Overeem might have bigger bench press than Fedor (Fedor benched 180kg), but that doesn't mean that he hits harder... Otherwise Pudzdanovski would be the most powerful puncher ever in mma.

But not everyone failed a test...
he seems to be more than competitive nowadays while passing random tests

either way, Alistair is and always has been a legit monster

Yeah i wish he had been more defensive, his fights with browne, big ben and big foot were painful to watch.

Reem is the GOAT if he has an iron chin. Don't even like him, but it's probably a fact

Nah. He actually came out aggressive like he did against Browne, which is really good. That was his best shot at winning as opposed to the tentativeness he showed vs Schaub. Reem just did a good job defending for the most part.

Still would've liked to see him pressure Reem a lot more against the cage tho, but still. Reem just did well.

I actually really liked that in the replays of Arlovski's flurry you could see Overeem hiding behind his arms with his eyes wide open, reacting to every punch and moving to put his arms in the way of each blow to deflect them. He was very much aware of where the punches were coming from, where he needed to move his defences, etc.

In real time I thought he'd turtled and frozen like he has before, but here he was actively reacting, moving his "shield" to intercept incoming blows. This was one of his key successes in K1 was that he could hide beyond the big gloves, and the transition back to MMA was a struggle as there was now gaps where there wouldn't be gaps in kickboxing gloves. Here he compensated that by watching and moving his arms to where the blows would be instead of just forming a general "shield" with his arms.

I mean I'd still rather he just avoids the blows at all, but I was impressed once I saw the replays and saw his composure. He knew what was going where and when and was ready.

He may be more competitive so to speak, but all of his accomplishments that are top shelf, whether they be in kickboxing or not in the UFC, were before that test... Horse meat.

Oh yeah man because he clearly achieved nothing prior to those 4 fights roids or not.

I liked how he was upkicked a dozen times in a row by the technically brilliant Travis Browne.

Big fan of Overeem but he won't ever be on top for very long simply because he can't take punches to the chin, has a lazy defense and reacts badly to inside pressure.

I think TS is trying to separate the bad chin from the analysis, and judge only his skill level. But I agree with your points.

He really could have beaten all of those guys with the gameplan he is employing now. Although he was rather smart and tactical against Bigfoot, but was completely gassed in round 3. That chin will always haunt him but he has shown that sharp defense makes all the difference.

as were every Pride champions, and K1 champions...... so if his dont count, nobodies count lol
