I don't feel like this show had room for an episode outside the main narrative. This ep pushed nothing forward, and had no real tension because... well everyone already knew the fate of every character. Unless you're just in it to see some people die in a sort of horror movie style I guess. They maybe felt they needed an episode that had a certain amount of gore in it so they made this one.

If this had been the first episode it would have been fine. But in the middle of the series... no. And now another week to see the main narrative move forward...

Overall the best episode in terms of it actually feeling like an Alien story, but at the same time it wasn't really necessary for the plot. We got a bit more character development on the cyborg guy but that's it. Everyone else is dead and won't add to the rest of the story so kind of pointless at the same time.

I guess we kind of now know the eye ball thing isn't friends with the other creatures. It was weird for the xeno to freak out about it though. What's the little eyeball gonna do to a xeno? The thing doesn't even have eyes to worry about. Makes me think it's going to be an unexpected ally to humans later.

According to what?
I was going by the AVP movies but those aren't canon I guess. But it makes sense. They're supposed to be super strong as shown in all the movies where they easily drag people around. The predator could lift arnold with one hand so it seems they'd be around the same strength level. Both species can jump around and climbs things without breaking a sweat despite being bigger than humans as well.

So the alien species containment pods can be easily opened from the inside and are also made out of easy to shatter glass? 🙄
I liked this episode as it is but wow the people in this show are really stupid. I'm having a hard time believing they were able to capture the organisms in the first place. It doesn't make sense at all.

Yutani sends a top secret expedition to bring back incredibly dangerous and mysterious alien organisms, costing god knows how much resources.
Send a rag tag group of utter amateurs who don't even know each other. Give them shite equipment that can't even properly contain the very things you're trying to retrieve, despite being a multitrillion dollar corporation that controls a good chunk of the world.
Somehow these idiots are successfully able to capture multiple hostile creatures on a different planet without any incident. If there was an incident, you'd think they'd be a lot more careful on the ship.
The idiots you send can't even follow safety protocols. You'd think dealing with completely new and dangerous alien organisms would make them take some safety precautions. No masks, no hazmat suits, just put your hand into a container of alien ticks. And that's from the lady who's in charge of studying these creatures lol.
With these total amateurs onboard, bring dangerous alien organisms straight back to earth, instead of sending them to a space station or something first.
Profit?

Yeah that bothered me a lot. Simple unscrewing lets aliens out and used Mountain Dew bottles. Also is that Dr retarded?

Episode 5. Not really liking that they went and showed what happened at the Maginot. I was glad they skipped the slaughter in episode one because I think it's just something we've seen before many times.

I stopped episode 5 around the 7-minute mark because I had something else to do. But I don't have the drive to finish the episode because all the characters in the ship are so unlikable and annoying.

Yeah, hard agree here. I couldn't really get into this last episode because like you said, it's all old hat.

Not terrible by any means, but been there, done that.

I absolutely enjoyed the other aliens and seeing what some of them could do.

The xenomorph wasn't featured prominently so much as the space ticks and the beholder(i dunno what else to call that multi eyed monster)

The captain being able to outrun a Xeno completely took me out of the episode
It should've snatched her up in .2 seconds.

The lab specimens being in weak glass containers also strikes me as silly.

It kept me entertained but it's a mediocre episode.

Didn't bother me much. Other than the dog alien in 3, they were traditionally no faster running than humans unless they were hoping through their sticky nests like Spiderman.

In alien and aliens they were more sneak up and grab ya.

Reminds me of Starro the Conqueror.

I liked how the eyeball octopus tried to warn the lady scientist to not to drink the contaminated water 😂

And then fought a Xeno to a stalemate in a stolen skin.

It seems to recognize the other creatures.
I suspect it has experience not being able to burrow into an acid carapace and didn’t want the complications of a xeno ruining its plan to body snatch/the thing its way to a civilization.

It still killed and took over a human host as fast as it could

Well, it changed some major dynamics.

Boy Cavalier was already annoying and i was wondering if Kirch will turn on him because hes such a prick, but now it turns out he is, even worse, a Burke style villain who caused the accident and life loss for personal gain and the script has flipped. The cyborg we thought of as a villain is now actually the good guy

The episode also granted some insights into the other alien species. The eye creature knows and opposes xenomorph and the ticks, and the ticks are ugh. The toxic gas they emit caught me by surprise. I was betting we would see the plant creature cause the toxic effect shown in episode 1 because we had not seen it interact with a human yet.
Now I have no clue what the plant specimen does and I'm still waiting to see. The fly creature we only briefly saw will probably make an appearance next episode, given its called fly.

Reminds me of many blue collar work crews LOL

That ship probably would have crashed without the sabotage

The sorts of people who volunteer for 65 year missions knowing everyone they know will be likely dead on return can't exactly be easy to recruit. Im sure standards are low as hell due to lack of intelligent volunteers. It would be full of losers who want a get rich quick scheme and have nothing to lose back home

The first lines of dialogue took me out. That kid who wakes up the cyborg is talking about the captain is dead yet he's all bubbly about it and asks if he wants to see the video of the captain and the woman fucking lol. If your captain is fucking dead from an alien lifeform that is on your ship, you'd think you'd be a lot more worried and serious about the situation. Not the idiots on the Maginot though.

The synth guy was creepy for no reason only to be the first to get murked by the xeno. The doctor guy kills a patient by cutting the facehugger and his first instinct when dealing with yet another alien lifeform on a patient is to just yank on it with no safety considerations. Everyone on the ship is fucking retarded.

The sex scene was interrupted with a threesome and unwanted facial

And yeah, working class jobbers often are retarded even if they are good at certain things. The doctor is probably a failure with the training of a combat medic. An intelligent good doctor is rich with hot babes to bang and don't go on this mission.

Nobody with options volunteers for a 65 year mission where everyone you know will be dead by the time you get back. By definition, only losers or sociopaths are going to opt in because they have nothing to lose.

Unlikable and annoying. Yep. We're all tuning in to see the aliens, not the humans.

Same concept on godzilla. Most of the movies, theyre all about the monster, but the human narrative is half assed.

Alien and Aliens didnt do that, but it was fresh. BUT Godzilla Minus One did.

These folks need to focus on the human aspect much like Minus One did.

Oh, and dont make it clean looking and definitely never use this music again.

What does that expression stem from? I've heard it and used it, not knowing what it meant.

So there's no way they contained all those tick creatures, especially now that we've seen them contaminating water and releasing a toxic mist. Those things have suddenly shot up the threat-o-meter.

Smart ticks of that size would be absolutely frightening.

I mean, they gotta be smart if they can figure out how to open the container from inside by watching the lady.
