Unlikable and annoying. Yep. We're all tuning in to see the aliens, not the humans.

Same concept on godzilla. Most of the movies, theyre all about the monster, but the human narrative is half assed.

Alien and Aliens didnt do that, but it was fresh. BUT Godzilla Minus One did.

These folks need to focus on the human aspect much like Minus One did.

Oh, and dont make it clean looking and definitely never use this music again.

What does that expression stem from? I've heard it and used it, not knowing what it meant.

This is what I got off google, lol:

"Anything that's old-hat has grown so familiar that it's boring or seems old-fashioned. Your grandfather's war stories might be fascinating to your friends, but after hearing them so many times, they're old-hat to you. A lot of what you're studying in school might be exciting in September but completely old-hat by May."

Yeah that bothered me a lot. Simple unscrewing lets aliens out and used Mountain Dew bottles. Also is that Dr retarded?

It is amazing. They got an elite cyborg who was a personal friend/enforcer for a CEO who came to own an entire hemisphere on planet Earth, but the rest of the team was selected from a random Taco Bell.

It also seems his daughter died sometime after he left for the mission that the CEO sent him on - which means that one of the 4 or 5 most powerful people on the planet couldn’t keep his daughter safe while he was away? Seriously?

And was the Asian masturbator guy a robot or just a weird pervert? He seemed kind of like a robot to me?

They should copy this scene from Independence Day

Lol yeah. They have tech and money to make a dude a cyborg but not put his daughter in a house with a fire suppression system.

I think they mentioned in episode 1 that the asian guy is a synth. His character was completely unnecessary. Why make him creep on that girl when both characters die in the first episode with no bearing on the story at all? Also synths smoke cigs?

The Asian was never called a synthetic. He's a creepy human

The entire point is only losers , weirdo's and sociopaths go on a 65 year mission and you don't get intelligent balanced crew

Interesting. I swore they mentioned that he was synth but apparently there's confusion about it likely done on purpose by the show creators. The fact that he smokes and screamed at the xeno probably means he was human.

I think he’s just Asian

The crew was anyone who would sign on to give up 65 years. Slightly more believable. The Dr who is purportedly trained in doctoring doesn’t wear a mask during surgery?

But why "old hat" vs an "old shoe?"

They threatened to Dock his pay and he was acting sexually attracted to the chick. At no point did he come off as a Synth lol

Which one was Ripley? The hero of 4 films in the series? Lmao

The Nostromo's mission was originally less than a year IIRC and the crew were pissed that the distress signal pulled them so far off course. The big gap between the first two films was bad luck, there's not much gap between 2 and 3, and the huge gap to 4 is because she was, ya know, dead.

Ripley's mission on the nostromo was 10 months lol.

She didn't expect to come back and find her daughter aged and dead and they made that clear and stated the timeline.

The folks who volunteered for this one knew it was a 65 year. The best and brightest have real jobs, women and money and don't throw their lives away for shares. This mission got the equivalent of toilet cleaners with no lives or homeless dorks for talent because those are the only ones who have nothing to lose

They are dealing with different aliens and they are not wearing protective gear?! <eyerollstanley><Prem973>

Yeah, the black cyborg bro used to be a street urchin

I absolutely enjoyed the other aliens and seeing what some of them could do.

The xenomorph wasn't featured prominently so much as the space ticks and the beholder(i dunno what else to call that multi eyed monster)

I like the little eyeball monster. He’s a character.

I do wonder why he was trying to warn to scientist lady about the ticks. I guess if the ticks kill everyone, he doesn’t have as good options for a host. But he also seemed to help the captain escape from the xenomorph temporarily. Probably for the same reason, but maybe he has good intentions.

I’m more interested in his story arch than anything else in the show.

Why is it that so many modern series include a flashback episode in the middle? At least this one did it better than, say, the Last of Us.

Eyeball alien is great. So are his friends. People who hate on eyeball alien reveal more about themselves than they do eyeball alien.

Series should really should have done a better job explaining the difference between robots, synths, androids, Asian pilots, Peter Pan kids, and what have you. I don't get it at all. Big downside.

So, now that we know the crash was intentional and caused by Boy Genius's turncoat, it makes me wonder if he did something to Wendy specifically to prepare her to interact with the xenos.

I guess so. I didn’t remember how long the original mission was supposed to be
