Wow first reactions on Twitter are good!

Oh wait they almost always are.

"katherine watersons character is less woman-in-distress more ripley, badass!"

so...she's ripley?

sigh, hollywood aint trying

Even if it's an homage to Alien it will still be significantly better than Prometheus.

The Fly remake is arguably better than the original.

Thanks for the tag, @Dragonlordxxxxx !

Always have hope for greatness but expect the worst.

tis how i'm going forward with this movie.

I just hope they don't go over the top with the gore. Alien had brief quick shocks of violence which made it more powerful.

Aliens had the dread of knowing the chest burster was coming with the lady in the hive and it was brutally effective.

If they just try and up the gore and action this will still fall flat. Need characters people actually care about to be a success.

"Waterston will be playing Ellen Ripley’s mother in Alien: Covenant, which is an amazing twist and true to Scott’s promise that the post-Prometheus prequels will eventually lead right up to the first Alien movie," sources close to film and actress told The Playlist. "But it should be noted that Waterston isn’t the lead of the movie, and it’s an ensemble piece like Prometheus."

James Franco Joins ALIEN: COVENANT; Details on His Character

James-Franco-Alien-Covenant-120916-Dragonlord.jpg

Even though production on Alien: Covenant has been done for awhile, AVP Galaxy is reporting that James Franco has a role in in the prequel sequel. That means we’re getting James Franco and Danny McBride in an Alien movie, and that’s just weird to think about.

First off, the site reveals that Franco’s agents were really pushing for him to take the lead role in Shane Black’s The Predator after Benicio del Toro dropped out. But Franco apparently ended up passing on the role, which was given to Logan star Boyd Holbrook in the end.

Now instead Franco will be appearing in the franchise of Predator’s mortal enemy as one of the crew members of the titular ship the Covenant. He’s not just any crew member though, as his character Branson is actually the captain of the ship. In addition, he also happens to be the husband of Katherine Waterson‘s character Daniels. But here’s where we get into spoiler territory.

Apparently Franco’s character only appears in the first 10 minutes of the movie, with later small appearances. We will reportedly meet his character in viral footage leading up to the release of Alien: Covenant. The good news is that as captain of the Covenant, hopefully that means we get to see him interacting with Danny McBride.

True. However, The Fly remake was produced during the 1980's, which coincidentally was the last decade that produced a memorable Alien film. The people who knew how to make quality films during the 80's have either passed, retired, or have long since phoned it in.

Michael Fassbender Playing Another Android, Walter, in ALIEN: COVENANT

Michael-Fassbender-Alien-Covenant-121316-Dragonlord.jpg

One of the most anticipated franchise movies of next year is 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott’s prequel-sequel Alien: Covenant, and during an exclusive chat with star Michael Fassbender for Assassin's Creed today, ComingSoon asked him how his new android role Walter differs from the nefarious antics of Prometheus‘s David, who also shows up for the new film.

“I think Walter’s a real different kettle of fish,” Fassbender told us. “David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter’s more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego.”

It sounds like Walter has more in common with a helpful robot like Bishop from Aliens as opposed to Ian Holm’s “twitchy” one in Scott’s original Alien. The logical aspect might also give him a kind of Spock-like demeanor, but we’ll have to wait and see if some other fundamental flaw will show itself in Walter.

every movie that was remade in the 80s was better than the original --- scarface, the blob, and etc
every 80s movie that was remade, the remake was much worse and pointless

They should know the difference between Ash and Bishop if they want to cover this franchise.
