I don’t usually make UFO threads, but this is one of my favorite UFO stories with a photo.

In 1990 in a small Portuguese town called Alfena, a UFO floated through so blatantly visible and low that towns people threw rocks at it. It was visible up to an hour. Long enough in fact that townspeople were able to alert their local photo journalist who went out to the local soccer field where the ufo was hanging no more than 50 meters above ground. He snapped some surprisingly clear photos before it finally flew away. Here is one:

looks like a flying charcoal grill

Hmmmm..never heard of this before. Pic looks like it could be a fleck of shmootz on a lens though.

That is the most non aerodynamic design ever. Those aliens don't have a very good understanding of physics. What idiots.

I watched a lot of Ancient Aliens and never heard of that one.

50 meters away and cant see chet.

Who ever designed these ships clearly likes bbq'ing

A balloon with some hanging shit draped over it.

Looks like a jellyfish spongebob like to catch.

Also, why do these types of pictures always look like shit and all blurry. Why can’t they get a really good picture of the thing. I know it wasn’t digitized back then but you could still take some really good and clear pictures with a good SLR that didn’t look grainy and like shit.

That seemed the most probable to me as well and given Occam’s razor, it’s the explanation I’m most prepared to accept. That said, for the sake of the interest in the story, it apparently stayed completely motionless over the field for several minutes, which would be unlike a balloon as a balloon responds to even the slightest breezes.

Yes that is a fair question, particularly in this case. I actually think that it is pretty clear when compared to other ufo pics (especially from the 90’s). But the person that took this pic was a photo journalist who supposedly had a starionary target for several minutes. So one would imagine he could take a really clear picture.

All that said, I can also empathize with taking a crappy picture. If I saw a clear as day UFO and thought “This thing could zap away at any moment and I’ll never see it again” and I had a camera in my hands, I’d just be snapping pics. I wouldn’t be fumbling through my camera bag thinking “Okay the right lens for this light and distance....” then once I had the lens on thinking “now if I move over here I can have the sun hitting from this direction, and let me rotate the lens for proper exposure and I’ll zoom in at this distance and shit.....it’s gone.”

Not familiar with this story.

You have anymore info on it?

Only google. I saw it on some ufo show some years back. They interviewed the photographer and I remember liking him because he felt very credible (although UFO shows always weigh too much validity on someone “feeling” credible). He wasn’t some ufo buff before this and he isn’t one now. He’s just some guy with no explanation of what he saw.

Hmmm. I’m just spit balling here but, wouldn’t shape and aerodynamics be a non issue for interstellar travel?

Space=vacuum =no air drag=no need for aerodynamics

Not mention they’d definitly be relying on worm holes or jump tech. Thus making aero dynamics and earth based physics unimportant.

That being said...

Definitely flying charcoal grill ....
