Some guy said HWs turned this opportunity down but why wouldn't Curtis want this fight? He could get himself lined up again for a title shot or at least contender fight. And you'd have to believe he thinks he's a stylistic nightmare for Gane.

UFC knows if anything happens to Jones or Stipe, the other won't fight the official backup in Aspinall.

They rescheduled Gane/Volkov for after 309 so that if anything happens to Jon/Stipe, Gane can step in and fight Aspinall in the main event.

Obviously this would be more difficult for the winner to step in if they had just had a 5 round or otherwise draining fight a month or so before.

Huh? Why would be Pavlovich be in the mix for any big fights right now? Coming off two losses he needs to rebuild himself a bit. He should be the one fighting Almeida, not anyone in the top 5.

Almeida's ranking is really inflated right now, he shouldn't be in a fight that could be a title eliminator. The Gane / Volkov rematch makes plenty of sense given either guy could likely be fighting for the belt next vs Aspinall once this Jones / Miocic drama is finally over.
