How would a 155er go down to 145? That doesn’t even make any sense
it isn’t shameful for volk to lose to people bigger but it is also delusional to think he would beat them just because he didn’t get choked out vs Islam

His fight iq is certainly off the charts.
I generally agree with his assessment, that’s why I think Max does so poorly against him. Max is a volume puncher, he can’t really hurt a top FW with a single punch.
Against lesser fighters that works fine, but Volk is so smart defensively that it’s near impossible to land a significant amount of strikes to hurt him or make a difference to m the cards.

Ha. I only read the headline but that's some crazy over-confidence. That division has quite a few good contenders Volk hasn't faced yet, and as we can see from guys like Usman and Izzy, stringing together title defense after title defense is the hardest thing to do. It's what makes thr GSP's and Aldo's so special.

Volk has more than earned his arrogance. I just wonder if he’s now too focused on Islam and not 145. He’s not quite old, but he’s going to be seeing improved versions of his challengers as they mature into their own primes while he begins a natural decline. He’s chasing this idea of becoming a double champ because he cleaned out his division, and yet Islam has only just begun his reign, but we have to put LW on hold for someone to get a title shot from another division who happens to be 0-1 at 155? Naw mate.

Though he isn't as dominant yet overall, I personally liken Volk to a modern day GSP. He's just really good everywhere with no clear path to victory for his opponents, especially at FW.
He's also generally super likeable and a solid sportsman. Great champ. He made me a fan during his Holloway fights.
That said, like others have said, he could age out at any time. The lighter divisions are not friendly to older fighters. Overall this is a very exciting fight!
