Under or Over for you? I say under, the boy is good, still didnt earn a championship though.

id say over, his loses to jones and cormier are why hes legit, not his resume of wins. Hes cleearly very good, but some of his fans overrated the hell out of him, which is not to say that other nuthuggers don't do the same to their fav fighters.

Too inactive for his own good. He's a great fighter I hope he gets back to his winning ways.

Overrated in performance but accurately rated based on skill set.
He should have beaten Cormier, but his fighter IQ and self doubt made him look extremely overrated.

That really just depends on who's rating him

Both. He was grossly overrated after the Jones fight and grossly underrated after the Rumble fight.

Probably underrated. I thought he won the Jones fight and the Cormier fight could have gone either way.

Its just a pity Gus was timid against Cormier and a good reason why the UFC shouldn't give title shots to fighters who just got KO'd in the 1st round. Gus should have won that fight but was lacking confidence.

Completely overrated and overhyped until the minute the Jones rematch is booked, at which point he will be the most underrated fighter in the UFC according to sherdog.

I'm a huge fucking Gusto fan.
Been following him for five years. Admittedly,
I lost a significant amount of interest once
bandwagoners started trying to justify
claiming that he was clearly going to or
clearly did beat Jones... it was a close fight.

In fact, upon the announcement of the first
fight with Jones, I thought that Gusto was
still too green. I was happy to be proven
wrong, though.

Ultimately I feel like he is a very good fighter.
A step behind great. But he is very good.
He is also still young, and despite the miles
he must have on his head, his body is still
nimble and athletic and he can focus on the
right things, progress his style, evolve his
defense and learn to use his tools properly.

I think it's more of an issue of gameplanning
for Gusto. I think his nerves might get to him
a bit more than a lot of fighters too. Hard to
pin point it. But to answer your OP, I'd say it's
a bit of both depending on who you talk to.
Both are unfortunate, because Gusto can stand
as a very good fighter all on his own. Nothing
wrong with not being a "great." But he still has
the potential.

he's one of the few fighters that falll somewhere in the middle

to this day some idiots still think he can hang with Jones or beat Rumble or DC in a rematch i mean its not impossible but some guys act like he would be a shoe in to win

on the other hand there are guys who think he isn't that good because he lost to DC and Jones ignoring the fact that they are the best of the best the division has to offer

Gus is a solid top 5 right now but the top 3 in LHW practically make the division what it is and all 3 are monsters

Well, apart from an elbow in the fourth in the Jones fight he could have become champion. So clearly, he's not being overrated, he's one of the best in the 205 div.

Underrated. Locked in at #3 but could be champ if he gets rematches.

That really just depends on who's rating him

Exactly!
If someone says he's shit then he underrates him.
If someone says he'll win against Jones then he overrates him.
I say he is a great fighter that could've been the champion if the division wasn't so freaking tough.

I think most people clearly see him for what he is: an excellent fighter with a style that did and still could give JBJ problems, but regardless only a clear number 4 in the division.

He's got heart, moderate skill set, needs to work on some things...

He needs to start beating drug tests and blow up to UberGus. I have TRT Gus as the favorite in rematches with the top 3.

I think at this point in time he's accurately rated. Some people overrate him, some underrate him, the truth lies in the middle.

I personally think he's a fantastic fighter, but just a step below the truly elite of that division.

He's right where he should be, a top 5 level LHW. Even though he lacks the big wins that other top5 guys have, the fact that he was very competitive in two title fights to the point the fights could have gone either way shows he's a top 5 LHW.

He's got B+ skills to be sure.
But he is not mentally strong in my opinion, meaning that he makes mental mistakes and/or let's his emotions/nerves get the best of him at the worst possible moments.
