Yeah, it was to me, the best fight I've seen. Like, there were many huge fights too, like Glover vs Jiri... But Glover vs Jiri seemed to have to ups and downs, like... Glover would bet Jiri on the ground a lot, Jiri would stand up, beat Glover, Glover would take him down... This one seemed more unpredictable, with a clear strong start from Gus, then a real tough with high level display of skills and athleticism in round 3... Then a round 4 which seemed to be JJ's demise and then... The huge spinning elbow that turned the tides, followed by many elbows on the fence and the flying knee... And the 5th round, both were wasted, tho Gus was at some point when JJ managed to land two hesd kicks, one which Gus didn't even block... Gus was trying to make it seem like he was ok, but it's almost like he was pulling his last will power to not fall in the ground. Then at one moment he used JJ's move (in the 5th round) and hit JJ with a spinning elbow, too... JJ took him down in the last round, but Gus got up, and both took like 5 seconds off just leaning one on the other due to how tired they were.... Even when asked, JJ says that if he were to show a fight to his kids later on, or grandkids wtv, the Gustafsson 1 would be the one he'd be the proudest, due to how good it was.
When JJ took Gus on that same year, Gustafsson was also in his best due to his desire to face JJ again, like, I think his goal of defeating JJ just made him the best out there outside JJ and DC... And I think Gus and DC when Gus was on his heydays were equally good and JJ one step above. Gus had came up of a huge KO win vs Glover and a total dominant unanimous decision vs Jan Blackowski... Then he lost to JJ in the third round with g&p... Then, it seems he lost a little of that thing, knowing his saga with JJ was over. The hunger, motivation, it all matters a lot.
Do you think that Gus back then was better than the Ankalaev from now?
