While Topuria has the more important wins Pereira carried the UFC on his fucking back this year, without him they would of been completely screwed.

Topuria definitely had a better claim as he had two really historic wins on his resume.

Pereira still had a very good year so at least it didn't go to someone entirely undeserving. He just doesn't have a strong enough division that any win he can get is nearly as strong as either of the two Topuria got.
