Media Aldo was scumbagged by UFC

Craziest shit was Lionheart getting a five minute sendoff montage for retirement while Aldo got nothing.
My guess is that Smith was a done deal about his retirement. Aldo probably didn't declared he was gonna retire. That's why he did a press interview about it the week after the Zahabi fight.

They knew he was retiring before this fight, don't think Aldo told them he was retiring before the fight, seeing as he retired couple days afterwards. Not the same thing.

Dana also inducted him into JOF right away after first retirement and had continued access to UFC PI while retired. Aldo was delusional and came back when he should not have. Aldo is a legend and should be treated as such, but he should have stay retired.

Pretty much. You can't fault the UFC for not making you some sort of retirement montage if they don't know you're retiring.

{<shrug}

The ufc has zero respect for their fighters. This shit never happens in real sports because there is competition. If one team shits on a legend they aren't signing other players. The ufc has no checks and balances and is ran by an ego maniac who believes he is tougher and smarter then the people who fight for the org.

Funny how the only ones they "know" are retiring are also WME employees working the desk.
If Aldo would have won, would he still make the decision to retire?

But to add, UFC has made a montage for him when they inducted him into the HOF. Not a chance in hell Smith is making it in there.

Well first, the UFC is not a team, but even still I could name dozens of teams in any sport who have mishandled star players and former champions. Shit in the NBA alone you could probably find examples yearly.

The UFC has fucked up so many late career veterans in mma. Part of me thinks that Aldo was serious about a title run so UFC gave him tough guys, like "okay, are you ready to get a title again beat these guys", but another part makes me think UFC is just feeding the young guys established names because it's better business.

There's so many legend fights Aldo could've made before going. Either established big names or guys like him at the end of their career.

Such a shit way to end his career (not his fault.) Arguably won his last 3 fights including the current champ although the Merab fight I might be bias considering he should have gotten a title shot, yet they give it to Dillashaw and gave him Merab at high altitude which was BS. Then you factor in Dillashaw coming off a fight many thought he lost and went in knowing he had a major injury. Sad to see him go out like this because I still believe he is still a top guy in his diminished form just had card stacked up against him.

dem culda at least took 'em oot tuh Applebee's smdh 🤦🏿

And can you imagine Dana treated a Midwest journeyman and legend in his own mind Anthony "Turtleheart" Smith's retirement way better than Aldo??
