I know the body shot was great, and he even took some bombs with his jaw like a BOSS

but he looked slower and stiffer than before

Am I the only one noticing this?

I agree I love Aldo.

But he was a bit slower then usual.

I don't think hes in his prime but thats even more impressive that he dispatched of Stephens so quickly.

You’re definitely not the only one; I noticed it as well. No doubt he’s older and not the same; hence UFC Aldo and WEC Aldo. I believe the Aldo of old would’ve beaten Stephens much easier; he’s taking a lot more clean shots than ever before. But the fact he’s still competing at the highest levels is a testament to his skill.

Agree. He did look a little slower and he hasn't been as explosive as he used to be for awhile. That being said, he ate some heavy leather. A lot of those shots he ate seemed more like he just wanted to stand and trade rather than his defense was too slow.

Aldo is a fucking boss. There is no other way of putting it. Dude is a straight up savage. #Aldo4Life

I’ve noticed it a few fights ago Aldo is clearly not in his prime anymore but his greatness still allows him to beat a lot of fighters.

I like "100 leg kicks in the first round" Aldo.

I think also being in two wars with Max didnt help. Aldo is only 31 but yes, I think his confidence in this fight didnt show like he has in the past. I will always like Aldo as he is a humble guy and lives not far from me. He even owns a Burger Shop in Copacabana. He often stops by to visit the clients. His Burger place is called "Famous Burger".

Yes he's lost a step but he still brings fire, that body shot shifted internal organs...

Edit: @Jin Akutsu you believe this ^^^ I doubted Aldo and he slapped me disbeliever... Happy Loss.

For sure TS, but even past his prime Aldo sent Stephens liver into the 5th dimension.

He isn't light on his feet and bounce around the octagon anymore. He also used to roll with punches but now he has less movement everywhere.

Aldo is past his prime and he still beats 99% of the division and will be champ again if/when Max moves up.

GOAT

hes only 31 but has been in like 15 title fights, thats why. its a testament to his skill and warrior spirit and mentality that hes still competing at the highest level even against the new era. groups of top guys have come and gone at 145 and yet hes been their at the top the entire time. hes gonna have to rely more on technique as each fight passes. i hope he works more on his head movement and footwork

that being said, only aldo even as much as hes slowed down would take stephens shots on the chin and then walk him down and knock him out lol. i think stephens was shook when aldo kept answering and thats when jeremy started retreating.

I feel like it was a drop off but not enough to the point where "he's shell of his former self" like some of the vets that have the mileage he has

It's inevitable... Father time waits for no one...

He still looked good and I'm rooting for him to retire on a win streak - like the champion that he is!

He deserves it!

Stephens lost therefore he's even paster his prime than Aldo. What a warrior!

I like Aldo in 3 rounders I know that much

He does seem to have lost a step, but his offensive attack and head movement are still dangerous as hell

It's pretty wild that Stephens took Holloway to decision, whereas Aldo destroyed him in one round (not to imply it was one sided, but he did in the end), and yet Aldo has pretty much nothing for Max it seems

I thought that at range, his slips and pull counters looked better than I remembered. I think that's due in large part to his emphasis on training boxing with the Garcia's. In close quarters though, he ate some shots that scared me, extremely impressed he took those shot though, especially that uppercut.

Aldo has a lot of mileage but his skillset will always be great.

Go back and watch his fights in the wec or early ufc and then ask this question. but you will find your answer....he is night and day different...back then, he barely if ever got hit...his reflexes were so fast...he was lighting, and hit like a truck...but somewhere along the lines, he started getting hit more and more as his speed decreased. he still has some decent speed and explosiveness, but nothing like in his prime...
