Anderson said he wanted to finish up his contract, but Dana kept trying to push the retirement angle.
Anderson kept repeating that he had no intention to retire. Dana kept trying to push the narrative that Anderson looked like he didn't belong in the cage... Even though it was a competitive fight and he was even leading on a scorecard before the stoppage.
Dana tried to play noble boss by letting Anderson retire for his own good... But when Anderson simply wouldn't budge, Dana admitted that Anderson gets paid a lot of money, and didn't want to pay him... So Dana released him.
Dana was also spiteful to Ben.
Woodley also got fired because he couldn't win anymore.
The fact that Anderson, Ben, and Woodley found good paydays after they got fired, has nothing to do with Dana's generosity.
