I would not count on it. Considering how terrible Aldana's striking is, the atrocious windmill punches of Pena while running forward, might look like poetry in motion next to Aldana covering her face with both hands. Holly Holm somewhat, was doing the same with her "ish! ish!" and Aldana was covering her face the same exact way. Heck, she was even getting tagged hard by Correia.

This fight was terrible for performance wise, but also for the belt. If Nunes was going to retire waiting one more fight significantly increases her chances of winning the belt. Now she is several fights away from a title fight again.

Her performance of not even trying was horrible, they probably do want a Mexican champ but she hurt her chances of a future title fight by looking terrified & not doing anything, didn't even try. What you call the Grasso effect is actually called the Halo Effect. Giving a fighter far more credit then reality called for simply because they are more competitive then many before them. Its what led to people calling a very close competitive GSP vs Hendricks a "Robbery". Grasso in no way was remotely destroying Val on the feet with her boxing. You think she was because she didn't get smashed to shit like most expected. She was losing that fight 3-1 if she didn't get that choke in a very fortunate circumstance. Val was outstriking her yet many like you thought Grasso dominated on the feet.
