Aladdin is a Monster

Bah! As long as his kingdom has plenty of these...

Whoo cares

Bro, never read the real Little Mermaid story then if Alladin rustles you so, lol.
Oh, trust me, I've read it. I wish Disney had the balls to adapt the whole thing, lol

It doesn't "rustle" me. I just got really bored/stoned earlier and came up with something that made me laugh

You are trying too hard to do one of those "the protagonist is really the bad guy" things that have becone popular lately.
Seriously. Enough of this shit.

Anyway I think I too enjoyed Alladin more than the other Disney movies coming out at the time. The songs were really good too. Aint seen any of them in many years, other than the Lion King which still holds up pretty well.

As an aside, Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie, and if they fuck up the live version (I am looking at you Will Smith genie) I am going to be pissed.

Wait.... they're making a live action version of Aladdin with The Fresh Prince as the Genie?

Why didn't he just wish for Jasmine to love him?

The fuck do you expect from a guy that hangs around with a kleptomaniac monkey

I'm pretty sure this is a thesis statement for "Ethics of Disney Works 201"

Fun Aladdin fact.

It was supposed to take place in Baghdad but after the Gulf War they figured it was too risky to film on location.

I feel like The Genie while a cool dude and extremely powerful entity certainly wasn't all-powerful or omnipotent. He had outright William F. Buckley prefaced limitations to what he could do and he got hoodwinked by Aladdin into doing something big to help him without actually granting a wish.

I'm pretty sure it's not too much of a stretch to assume he took certain liberties with granting wishes. That is, when Aladdin asks to be a prince, Genie basically gives him all the trappings of being a prince- the look, the money, adoration of the people, but I don't think he actually gave him the lineage of being a prince.

That said, a big question that goes with the man @Daverisimo's point is did all those people during the Prince Ali number have any free will? Was Genie just manipulating them with magic for the purpose of the number (probably)? Were they just fair weather fans of a good looking rich individual claiming to be a prince? Were they even real at all or just illusions via Genie magic...

It was all a mirage cause he was hungry AF

The Genie said that he can't make anybody fall in love as one of his rules so I would assume that to mean he cannot manipulate the free will of others.

this thread is full of posters desperately trying to brag about how much they don't care about this thread

Couldn't agree more. He even steals from children.

If you go by the third movie then Alaadin is already a prince and was the whole time. If you take this into account and let's say the genie knew this then maybe he thought Alaadin just wanted to look more like a prince.

The question then is why wouldn't genie tell him his dad is the king of thieves or tell him he already is a prince? I'm assuming the genie can't grant a wish that is already true so he twisted the interpretation to just look like a prince so that Alaadin essentially wastes a wish.
