The worst thing about Holy Grail is the ending. They clearly weren't sure how to end it so they have everyone arrested which was a joke that clearly fell flat IMO. Fortunately they learned from their mistake because life of Brian has one of the best endings ever.

Airplane's biggest flaw is that annoying guy that does the "Auntie M, Auntie M, it's a twister!" scene. That guy pops up half a dozen times and every single time he's so unfunny that it pisses me off. He didn't really fit in with the clever writing in the rest of the movie, and IMO should have had all his scenes cut out.

Overall I'd say I laughed harder at holy Grail, so that would be my pick. The first time I saw the black knight and the bridge keeper scenes I was literally ROFL

Absolute genius move casting Nielsen, Robert Stack, and Lloyd Bridges in Airplane, too. Some of the deadpan humor is just hysterical and those three actors are spot on.

One of my favorite moments is when they’ve made the emergency landing and Stack is just continuing to ramble on in his motivational talk with Striker over the radio.

“Ted, do you know what it’s like to fall into the mud and get kicked in the head with an iron boot…of course you don’t. No one does. It never happens. It’s a dumb question. Skip it.”

Also Nielsen’s introduction. “Excuse me, I believe the man sitting across from me is a doctor.” Cuts to Nielsen sitting reclined in his seat wearing a stethoscope.

see I would say MG has the better writing because I think each s just so much more quotable, like the Witch weighing scene and Arthur having the dispute with the peasants, then the whole knights who say Ni thing. Not to mention the whole punchline in the film is they end right back at the French castle where they started, in front of the same guys who told them they already got one at the start.

Holy Grail is something I enjoyed watching once.

Airplane is something I enjoy watching over and over.

Airplane gets my vote.

Airplane is one of greatest comedies ever. So many more memorable moments than Grail and Grail was no slouch there.
