You could argue as well I spose that SW has always given the impression G-force is not an issue, the Falcon doing all manner of crazy moves without being being thrown around so I guess the artfical grav tech cancels it out and without that you would not been to be super fit to be a fighter pilot.

One of the X-wing novels (I think) pointed out how Porkins adjusted the artificial grav in his cockpit so his extra lbs wouldn't affect him, yet it cost him on the Death Star attack because he thought he could pull his damaged X-Wing out of its dive into the DS's surface.

They were a rebel armed force, sure they have ranks and shit, but I doubt they were turning trained pilots away because they didn't meet weight, PT and vaccination standards....

"Thank you for committing treason by deserting the Empire and forfeiting your life if you are caught, however due to Aliiance Weight and Body fat standards you are not fit for duty in this Rebellion. Should you lose the weight, please apply again in the future..." - Some Star Wars MEPS office...

That was one of my photoshops from my Star Wars MMA album, you should check it out. I made it more than a decade ago, check it out.

Lol awesome.

I still stand by what I said. Insignificant rebellion will not turn away fatties (probably because they don't offer medical bennies)

I never spent a millisecond worrying about rebel BMI.

Hayden Christensen is good actor shocker.

Seemed to me it was less about him imparting skill and more her confronting the legacy of being his student, maybe to move past being someone who isolates herself and deals with small problems because she fears what getting involved with wars will do to her.

These are fair explanations and noted. But we should also note that Porkins was NOT the norm but rather an exception to the pilot norm. I mean his call sign was "Piggy" and he obviously took shit for being overweight. Even if the rebellion were taking every pilot with a pulse, it would be ridiculous if the entire pilot corps looked like a company of IRR reservists called up to active duty for the first time after 20 years sitting on the couch eating cheetos.

This was a key criticism of the ST. Forcing characters on us that simply weren't believable, in the name of "anybody can do any job well, regardless of training or aptitude."

The actor Paul Lee looking overweight isn't a huge issue but it is notable. Every other fighter pilot we've seen has looked lean and mean, so I guess they're going for Carson being the odd pilot who's overweight but still good at his job, like Porkins. All good - as I said IMO the character is well written and well acted.

I didn't watch clone wars, were the teleporting space whales given a longer introduction? Are their heads full of Spice?

Looks like they were introduced in an episode of Rebels that showed it was possible to talk with them.

Then the finale where they take Ezra and Thrawn into hyperspace. Damn I forgot that Ezra sons Thrawn pretty hard with the force before they disappear. The voice actor is the same guy playing him in live action so this should be what Thrawn sounds like when he finally shows up.

Ezra, the Rebels jedi trainee who they are trying to find, used to use the force to communicate with the space whales and got them to save everyone else by hijacking Thrawn's ship and going far away to place unknown. I think he also used to communicate with the planet's cat and wolf.

As an aside, Hayden was fantastic in this. Despite my heavy criticism of the prequels, namely their plot, he's a gangster and was perfectly cast as Anakin. Young Ahsoka is a G too.

So far Filoni put respect in Luke's name in Mando and did the same for Anakin here, atop of doing a great job at showing his slow turn in The Clone Wars. Filoni isn't perfect but he gets the big stuff right. Almost all of the good new cannon characters post prequels are him and his team's creation.

Edit: Outside of Andor.

I always felt it was writing that fucked haydens character performance in prequels (i dont like the sand...lmao)

man can act clearly and most def is above everyone in saber scenes

I like how the kid has green hair...
Dads was dark mom has no hair but green skin...
I guess thats how you end up with a human looking kid with green hair

I think the big issue with characters like Paul Lee is you know they are former rebels, there not too young, hansom and slick to have risen up after the war and fallen back into cynical careerism and mindless subservience to authority.

Thats why I thought the Holdo plot was so fucking horrible and so totally against SW, its a franchise which has always been about individual responsibility, characters standing up for what they know is right but Johnson's film is basically "no pleb you don't understand girlboss's genius, just blindly follow orders and everything will be fine", such a nasty cynical story that could have been written by Hilary Clintons press office about "Bernie Bros".

Rey I think was just lazy writing by a hack in Abrams, as much as people may rage against it she really is an absolute textbook Mary Sue, its depressing really now were seeing the franchise more in the hands of people with genuine talent that it may be beholden to such souless hackery. I didnt like the prequels BUT I think you can see in the flashback here it was at least a story of substance which is worth reffering to, theres nothing of value in the sequels besides a few good scenes in the middle of Last Jedi with Driver, nothing at all.

I'm not a cartoon viewer but I do really like the idea that the war poisoned Anakin, I think it works far better than what the prequels tried to sell and honestly I wish Lucas would have made that the focus of the prequels, that the Jedi becoming soliders and generals is a bad thing for them.

Yea i actually discussed this in some SW thread
.for all problems prequels had, there were some memorable moments like order 66, maul fight or opening battle over coruscant.

New trilogy has nothing really

I think the prequels aimed high and failed, the sequels aimed low and failed.

Well said and that's why I like The Clone Wars so much, it shows war poisoned Anakin becoming a soldier and slowly crossing lines to get shit done in war time, it gives much more believability and gravitas to his turn. Ahsoka especially contributes to his character building, especially when she left the Order

They waited waaaaaaaay to long to make the Thrawn Ezra reveal. Episodes got a little better but felt the Anakin part was pretty flat .
