Television AHSOKA Live-ActionSeries (Premieres Aug. 23, 2023)

Yoooooo.... I thought the second episode improved on the first, well, the third was WAY better, holy shit. That was a fantastic episode and all my previous gripes were alleviated. I don't know what the hell happened, lol. Everything was on point and it was exciting. I enjoyed that more than any episode of The Mandalorian. It had prequel vibes but this time in the best way, from the design of some of the craft to the sounds, even the music to a degree. The characters all had character, the plot unraveled fine, there was development, fun, excitement, even comedic elements but in a Star Wars way. Fuckin' a man, hell yeah. If the series keeps going like this I'm gonna love it and it'll be my favorite even with my love of Andor.

Damn that's some high praise lol. Definite improvement over first two episodes and I liked it too, but wouldn't put it over Mandalorian and definitely not over Andor. Maybe better than Mando S3. Overall solid episode though and Rosario's Ahsoka continues to be well-written and well-acted. Schooling Sabine in her ship was a very cool scene. No glaring issues but if I had one gripe, it would be

Ahsoka going out in a space suit and dueling the enemy ships with her lightsabers took me out of it a little. That was just ridiculous and was like some shit out of Power Rangers. And speaking of Power Rangers, Morgan Elsbeth/Rita Repulsa and the inside of her ship is too Power Rangery.

I've never seen Power Rangers so I'm good there lol. I don't know if it's pure bias on my part but Ahsoka outside the ship didn't bother me and I thought the way Sabine got her back in was a creative and cool moment. It reminded me of a particular episode of Clone Wars where another Jedi (who can survive in space) does the same thing but doesn't fight off fighters. It's ridiculous and I don't disagree with you but I enjoyed it. My brain just filed it under "a powerful Jedi could probably do that" and moved on lol.

I also felt like it cheapened the scene in Andor where Luthen slices and dices the other ships with his giant ship-mounted sith lightsabers. I believe that was the first time we've seen someone destroy a moving ship with a lightsaber and it came off perfectly for an enigmatic badass. I'm also reminded of the opening scene of ROTS where buzz droids get onto Obi Wan's ship and Anakin is trying to help. Either could easily slice them up with a lightsaber but they end up relying on R2 because neither can tolerate the vacuum of space outside their ships.

Yeah I getcha. I think she put a space suit on before she went out though whereas I don't think they had that option. For me it didn't cheapen the Andor moment because she's a jedi and a two war veteran BUT, bear in mind, I'm hugely biased and was riding the high of being shocked by how good the episode was. We all have different perspectives though so it's all good.

One thing I enjoyed about the space battle was that Sabine had a hard time hitting the fighters which was, funnily enough, a more grounded moment and akin to Han & Luke fighting off the Ties in the first Star Wars.

I re-watched the space scene and yeah, there are a lot of cool touches that kind of make it work. But as long as we're nitpicking, I'd say that while RD is nailing the persona of what I think a 45 yo Ahsoka would be like, she doesn't come off particularly athletic, given how fast and agile we know the character was in her youth. Especially since it's canon that all current or former Jedi receive a lifetime supply of TRT from Sylvestor Stallone's doctor (except Luke because Amazon Prime doesn't deliver to Ahch-To).

Also Shin Hottie is too hot.

Yeah she definitely seems a little stiff sometimes. I think a great director would notice that and compensate in the way they shoot or use stunt doubles. I'd be fine with it if she was Obi-Wan's age in ANH but I feel like she should still be pretty spry.

Shin 2 Hottie lol. She's a gangster and I enjoyed her smarmy comment toward Elsbeth. Very good banter this episode.

I'm not feeling this show, it's falling flat for me.

lol, they actually managed to make it even worse, quite an acomplishment... And the outer space walk fight. One literally needs a pause for a while to grasp that is actually what is happening cause its so stupid from sooo many many ways.
And some of you talking about "nitpicking" . that is hilarious. Nitpicking is a character having his hair parted the wrong way in the next scene or a glass being full again.
This is downright traversty and worse that Fett, which is hardly possible.

Come on dude, you thought it was worse than the premiere? Other than the space walk (which was kind of WTF), what else sucked about the episode? IMO this was the first episode that DIDN'T suck, and as @ferrisjso pointed out, the first two were meant as Rebels re-make fan service to set the stage. To me this one felt like Star Wars.

Another solid episode but still not wowed by it. I dug the space fight but really I’m just looking forward to more Ray Stevenson and the Inquisitors.

Duuuude. It was short but sweet. I liked several things about this episode.

I like the progression of the story. The music was great. Sabine doesn't seem to be emo or annoying. The action was fantastic. I didn't know what to think of the space whales when they were introduced but they were pretty spectacular. This episode felt a lot like watching the original trilogy - I know you'd disagree.

I still don't get how a supposed Mando is on the path of becoming a Jedi. I never watched the animated series. Does Hera have a human biological son, or was he adopted?

The actress playing Sabine has charisma, the camera loves this girl. I'd smell her farts all day.

It's alright. I'm just hoping one of these shows retcons the sequel trilogy.

Ray Stevenson comes off like a mysterious badass and it sucks he won't be around for more episodes after this season wraps. I wonder if they had written him out or if it'll just be another loose end they need to tie up.

I don't think Rebels ever hinted at Sabine training as a Jedi. That seems to be something that kicked off during the 10 year gap between the end of Rebels and the beginning of this series - but the finale of Rebels has Sabine abruptly leaving with Ahsoka to find Ezra (which is apparently meant to be the same scene E2 ended with).

Hera's kid Jacen is her biological kid with Kanan Jarrus, a human former jedi dude who was one of the main characters on Rebels. He sacrificed himself with a Hodor "hold the door" play so Hera and others could get away and was also the jedi trainer of Ezra who was a teenager at the time (as was Sabine). From what I've seen/read of Rebels, Kanan and Hera were like the de facto dad and mom of the team but it wasn't explicitly revealed they were having sexy time off-screen until after Kanan died. Then Hera was revealed to be pregnant and Jacen was briefly shown as a ~5 yo kid during the epilogue of the Rebels series finale.

Episode was good. Space fight was a bit out there but very in line with shit that happened in clone wars and rebels.

Ray just brings it with his physical presence. He just exudes menace but it’s controlled. His small performance in this episode is just good. He calmly gives orders, he doesn’t scream and yell like so many of the “bad guys “ in the recent trilogy. Can’t wait to see him in action more. I’m hoping he and Ashoka go toe to toe a few times in the series and not just a one and done.

That was my thought as well.

Yeah Baylan is a cool cat - he's what Dooku could and should have been. Really sucks he's gone because there's a lot of directions they could have gone with the character.

Hera talking shit to the Senator was enjoyable.
Banter/team coordination between Sabine and Ashoka during the dog fight was top notch.
Some shits gonna go down between Morgan and Shin
Baylan is a badass without having to be overacted...sad we wont get more of him RIP R.S.
Thrawn getting properly hyped up
Sound effects on were great!

Space walking was ok...didnt like the first free pass...

Training sequence in the beginning was maybe a min or two too long, that's my only real gripe.

4/5 Death Stars putting it on par with the Premier

yeah Baylan is fucking dope so far
I thoroughly hope he doesn’t get done dirty. I want to see him show some power. Go toe to toe with Ashoka and spare her or something. They better have him live up to the hype and not get jobbed.

I’d let the blonde mercenary apprentice buy me a beer

There are two problems with this chick: 1) Elbows too pointy, would not bang. 2) She's both hotter and prettier than Sabine, which makes no fucking sense. Everyone knows that's only allowed if the good girl is a try hard butterface or if she's wearing glasses and is allowed to magically become hotter by taking them off. Since neither of those apply to Sabine (who is still very good looking), I call bullshit on the entire premise of Shin 2 Hottie.
