Agree FOTY is between

I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't give it Zhang vs Joanna. Besides being objectively the best fight imo, it's also an excuse to give the award to the women for the first time.

Not that I don't think it deserves to win on it's own merits or anything.

Zhang/JJ was fire

Figgy/Moreno was one guy semi-gassed but with power vs. another guy w/ gas who could take the shots but then not really give much power back. Still a great fight but just nowhere near the level of fireworks as the ladies IMO

The year end poll threads will be out soon. Then we all get to vote.

I'd be surprised if Weili vs Joanna doesn't take FOTY.

Porier-Hooker for the best fight of the year imo but Figgy-Moreno obviously had more on the line.

JJ-Zhang was an incredible fight but not on the same level as the above.

I need to keep a FOTY list for 2021 because I forget the candidates. I do remember that round 5 of Fig/Moreno was underwhelming and likely ruined it's chance for the FOTY crown. Still a great fight.

It's pretty clearly Zhang-Jedrzejczyk IMO.

The first four rounds of Figueiredo-Moreno were fantastic. If the fifth had been as good, it could have been FOTY.
feminine bias to the core
Fig / Moreno had everything the little girls had and then some. It had knockdowns, ground wars, and near finishes on both sides. It was also a high stakes title bout with pro level fighters, not the handicap division for the ones who aren't as good. The pace matched, the combos were better with more variation, the grappling was back and forth.

voting polls on this site won't surprise me to agree with you, there's a shit load of estrogen loaded nancy's in here.

Some excellent fights in all of MMA this year. Weili-Joanna and Figueiredo-Moreno are two of the best, but I'd give the slight edge to Weili-Joanna.

For me

1. Zhang v. Joanna
2. Poirier v. Hooker
3. Emmett v. Burgos

I think I agree with this stuff. I was very hyped during this fight. I was jumping around.

But this is stupid.
Joanna/Zhang was a great fight, I think the criticisms of it being "the same exchange for 25 mins" is heavily exaggerated too. But it could be the defining factor why Fig/Moreno was "better". It had more variety of exchanges.

I dont understand why you guys feel the need to excuse it's quality with bullshit.

You are completely wrong as usual

Zhang vs. Joanna has my vote. It was an incredible back and forth battle of brutality. The women took years off of each other's lives.
