The prior “peace deals” that Russia put forward in Turkey required Ukraine to really minimize its militarization and Russia kept all stolen ground. Anyone with a functioning brain can understand why it’s bullshit.

If anyone is curious about the actual details here it is:

• ~57% cut in Ukrainian troop levels over January 2022 levels (from ~195k down to 85k).
  • The piece doesn't say if the 85k would include reservists; if it did, than that would be an even more laughable demand, since total combined active duty and reservist forces in January 2022 were close to 1.1 million, going down to 85k would mean an over 90% reduction
• ~55% cut in Ukrainian artillery below pre-war levels (from ~1150 down to 519 pieces)
• ~62% cut in Ukrainian tanks below pre-war levels (from ~900 down to 342)
• Complete ban on any Ukrainian missile with a range over 40 kilometers
• Complete ban on any imported weaponry in Ukraine
• Every guarantor state (US, UK, France, China, Russia) required to pull out of all treaties and international agreements that allowed arms sales to Ukraine, unless those sales went to Crimea
• All Ukrainian claims against Russia at the International Criminal Court dropped

All of Russia’s proxies have gone to shit like Assad and Iran. China doesn’t want to sacrifice much for Russia. All Russia really has is NK and they’re nothing to lose sleep over. So WW3 is not happening over Ukraine joining a defense pact that hasn’t invaded and annexed territory.
