In 1989 Jonathan Fleming was arrested for murder in New York city. Fleming was 1000+ miles away in Disney World FL at the time of the murder and could prove this. In 1990 a supposed witness that implicated Fleming admitted she lied when she claimed she saw him shoot the victimin .

I hope they witness gets life sentence/capital punishment for being a ****

Everyone involved in his being send to 25 years in prison should now be sent to 25 years in prison.

Wow that is fucked. How did that even go through. The witness that lied should do the same time or be hung.

The most awful thing. I can't even imagine. Being locked away even though you know that you're innocent, and for 25 years.
There's no compensation that could satisfy the kind of suffering he has gone through. They took 25 years of his life, and not only that because he also got labeled a murderer during that time. Just horrible. Should never be allowed to happen.

Another report I read says the witness had felony charges dropped in order to secure her testimony...

Also they already had the phone receipt from an Orlando hotel and witness accounts from the hotel saying they remembered the guy, but it was witheld from the defence.

Sounds an awful lot like the prosecution just decided to do him over.

Heart Breaking story. I'm glad the guy is out and gets to enjoy freedom once again, but as others have mentioned, he will probably always be tormented.

What an insane situation, where you know you are innocent, other people know you are innocent, you can prove you are innocent...and it doesn't matter.

I realize nothing will likely come of this, but I hope whoever was in charge of this investigation, the decision to not allow the evidence and witnesses proving he was innocent, ect, to be held accountable.

Awful.
Glad that NY isn't quick with their death penalty or as eager to hand it out as other states.

haven't heard the story but let me guess, he is a brotha isn't he?

The primary culprit and blame lies with the District Attorney's office. The guy was convicted in 1990, shortly after that same year the alleged witness recanted her testimony about seeing him. So why the hell wasn't he freed?

Why the hell was he even charged when authorities had soo much indisputable evidence he was far away. The prosecutors deliberately withheld evidence from the defense . Everthing points to deliberate miscarriage of justice by the DA's office.

All those responsible in the DA's office should be put away for life.

No kidding, I mean they had the photos, videos, companions testimony as well as the phone receipt, and interviews with hotel witnesses. Yet based on the recanted testimony (which was procured by dropping felony charges) they go with this scenario:

Because documentary evidence was withheld, the prosecutor back then was able to convince a jury that Fleming
