If it’s fully decommissioned at least you shouldn’t have to evacuate the area because of a radiation leak. Most, if not all, of the spent fuel should be securely sealed away in things like dry cask storage; possibly off site as well.

The wildfire sucks ass though, dude. Have a pal that had that nasty LA fire get close to his house and that was scary enough. Hopefully that shit gets under control soon and leaves you the hell alone.

Yeah there's no danger from the radioactive material itself. That's safe. They're is some on site, but it's secure. But the infrastructure of the grid goes through the plant still, so the power company cut it to avoid the risk of the gear breaking down.

Last report we got was 12,500 acres got destroyed and the fire is 40 percent contained. Our neighborhood would have been the next one under a mandatory evacuation, but a lake six blocks away prevented that. Mercifully there were no serious injuries that I know of, and damage to property seems to have been light.

Our power came back on a little while ago, so at least we dont have to spend another night in the dark.
