Adesanya the future middle weight champ

It's between him and Paulo Costa.

The UFC knows it and that's why Dana doesn't want them fighting each other yet.

So far, "I'm not impressed by his performance."

He looked just mediocre against a guy that was incredibly stiff even though the match was mostly standing.

If you think those kicks define who's going to have a success within the octagon, then Raymond Daniels should be the UFC champ by now.
Hell, Anthony Pettis probably has shown off more crazy kicks inside the cage, and look what he's had to deal with in his career.

I see him struggling big time against legit wrestlers.

Pettis did become champ, but you are right that we haven’t seen him against top wrestlers, we will just have to wait and see, I personally think he has what it takes to make it.

Anyone who trains knows his stand up is pretty much better than any MW at the moment. He was a professional kickboxer who fought at the highest of levels, a professional kickboxer's stand up will be better than a MMA fighter generally because they can devote a far greater amount of time in crafting the stand up.

I'm not buying into his hype yet. He was unimpressive against Vettori, and he hasn't beaten anyone worth mentioning yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if the first solid opponent he gets matched with runs through him and exposes him as a bunch of flash but not much else.

Actually .. Its Also between Shoeface........ AND Thiago Santos but he just got Ko'd.. Shoeface is TALL AF and long.. and on a tear.. And he has finishes which Stylebender does not except for his first fight..

HOW ARE PEOPLE FORGETTING SHOEFACE? LOOK HIM UP FFS HES HUGE and Aggressive and techniqal af

FUCKING CAUSALS

Are there UFC stat geniuses that can answer this question -- are there many UFC champions -- current or former -- that have won gold, but have won by split decision early in their UFC career? Adesanya taking a split decision win against low ranked competition might be a bad sign if you look at how it predicts the remainder of a UFC run.

funny how MW went 0 to 100 real quick. Over a year ago people were worried with the aging top of the division with Bisping-GSP, weidman, rockhold and jacare, and anderson (most of whom coming off Ls). now MW is stacked with talent under 30 like bobby knuckles, kelvin gastelum, adesanya, paulo costa and shoeface

I’m not sure I follow your statement on “finishes” Israel finished 12 of his 14 wins by ko/tko, your “shoeface “ as you put it hasn’t ko’d anyone but he has an impressive submission record..

Thats a finish.. IM TALKING ABOUT FINISHES IN THE UFC... Israel cant even FINISH low level opponents so far. Lol Hows he gonna stop the TOP guys.. All he has is his reach which Shoeface neutralizes. Btw Israel sucks on the ground.... Shoeface has all subs... So..

I see him struggling with even legit MMA strikers. Tavares is a gate keeper and not even close to being top 10 MW's in the world, taking into consideration global MW's, and he is a jack of all races types that likes to brawl. Izzy is a great striker but so unproven to this day while that Vettori fight exposed him and multiple outlets gave it to Marvin, including about 1/3rd of the fans.

Shoe face, Brunson and even Elias are rough at his ups for him. He did well getting out of clinches versus Tavares but if he got takedown and gave up his back versus an injured Tavares's, Shoeface would be a nightmare.

Did anyone listen to him on the JRE? I don't think I've heard a fighter as self aware about himself and the sport outside of analysts. For sure dude has a bright future.

I was listening to Israel on Joes podcast today. He's very knowledgeable about all kinds of martial arts. Seems like he's doing everything right. The only thing I see that could hold him back eventually is his camp, he'll need a better known training camp and coaches if he plans to stay on top. If he does that he has the potential to be champ.

He cant finish guys in the fringe top 10.

Compare that to whitaker who was finishing almost everybody.

Israel has a long way to go.

Id put paulo costa ahead of him.

Being a good boxer / kick boxer does not always translate to the best MMA striking.

I've seen waaaaaay better strikers than him struggle in MMA striking -
e.g. Gokhan Saki just got KOed in a brutal fashion against an unranked guy in the octagon.

Besides, no matter how good he is at striking, he hasn't been tested on the wrestling / ground portion of the game.
There's a reason that wrestlers / grapplers usually transition much better to MMA then those with largely striking background.
