Polish heavyweight contender Adam Kownacki (17-0, 14 KOs), 29, who fights out of Brooklyn, New York, where he has become a popular draw for his fights on Barclays Center cards, has signed with adviser Keith Connolly, who also works with Daniel Jacobs, Sergey Derevyanchenko and Marcus Browne. However, contrary to widespread rumors, Kownacki, who is managed by Al Haymon, is a promotional free agent and hasn't signed with Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn, Connolly told ESPN. “I realize there was a lot of speculation because Eddie Hearn was in (New York) for Danny's fight (Saturday) and that he had interest in Adam Kownacki. There were rumors swirling around which are not true,” Connolly said. “The plan is for Adam to fight on a PBC card this summer. Al Haymon and I have been in constant contact about Kownacki's next move and the plan we have will have him just a few fights away from fighting for a title I believe.” In his last two fights Kownacki has scored his two biggest wins, a fourth-round knockout of former title challenger Artur Szpilka last July and a sixth-round knockout of Iago Kiladze in a January slugfest.
