She stars in a movie that losses almost 200 million and then they cast her in snow white to be bold and brave. Another box office bomb.

To top it off she also has a very unlikeable personality and really didn't have any major TV or movie experience going into these castings (no momentum) so why in the hell are they trying to make her a thing ?

the era of the movie star is long dead thanks to hollywood's stupidity. The days of ppl flocking to the theaters on star power alone is long gone. Back in the day people would show up just cause they heard "tom cruise is in it." Those days are long gone. Nobody cares anymore. Nobody gives a fuck if it has a "star-studded cast" anymore.

Now its sort of reversed. Now instead of checking to see which actors are in it... now yur checking to make sure Zendaya & or Pedro Pascal is not in it when considering if a show or movie is worth yur time.

Lots of these Hollywood plants have family connections that got them where they're at now. These aren't people who sweat and toiled as theatre geeks for years to hone their craft before "making it" - that's what Denzel and Pacino did. It's an effect of Hollywood being more obsessed with analytics and not taking risks like they used to. All the mergers and acquisitions didn't help.

Austin Butler's really good because he was a child actor for years then became part of a theatre guild with Denzel. He's the anti-nepo baby.

And while Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's son Wyatt is a true blue nepo baby, his athletic background gives him a type of presence that I actually care what this guy's character's motivations are.

I don't even know who that is and I've seen the new Jurassic films. He can't be that prominent if I don't know his name or recognize him from anything ever. I mean, I hate Rhys Ifans but I was never inundated with him. There's a difference between people you think suck and people who Hollywood thinks are (potentially) amazing and (potentially) stars. Maybe I really am this out of touch, but at least the other folks getting mentioned in here are well-known. You just hate this dude so much you had to make a thread to get it out. As someone whose hate also burns hot, I respect that

Oh, come on, he's great. Is he being pushed as a star with an "it" factor? He's more of a character actor, no? I think he's crushed stuff like Black Mirror and Game Night, and I even loved him in a pure comedy part on the criminally short-lived NBC sitcom Bent.

Never got the hype for Zendaya.

I'm with you 100% on this. Her ceiling should've been Disney and made-for-TV movies. In no universe should she be the Angelina Jolie-type of celebrity actress she seems to be to so many people.
