"When the bout ended, Alvarez ran to ringside and invited WBA-IBF champion Gennady Golovkin into the ring. The public has been hoping to see that showdown, but Yahoo Sports has learned that Golden Boy has reached an agreement with Roc Nation Sports, Cotto’s promoter, they had about the pay split over the November bout with Alvarez. It is not finalized, but Golden Boy and Roc Nation are moving toward a rematch later this year. That leaves Golovkin on the outside again. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said the winner would have to fight Golovkin next or be stripped, but the belt is a small trinket compared to the prize of a mega-fight."

From Kevin Iole.

Will Canelo's fans allow him to get away with this?

Another anti boxing article by Kevin Trollolol? I am shocked.

For fucking what????? He completely won that fight and it wasn't close

Bah I don't buy it.

Tons of more interesting fights out there for Canelo besides a rematch.

He could fight any of the 147 pound champs or contenders. Brook or maybe whoever loses between Thurman and Porter. Broner after he loses to Garcia and before he does a dime in prison would work. Or the loser between Crawford and Postol!

Like what?

I'll concede, a fight Lemieux would be interesting. However Lemieux would have to cut off one of his limbs to make 155. Other than draining Lemieux his options are few and far between.

Basically nothing at Caneloweight but at 160 I would take Lemieux or Jacobs or Saunders over a Cotto rematch. Even Andy Lee would be more interesting. I just can't see the Cotto fight going any other way. He's not gonna knock out Canelo and he's not gonna win on rounds.

How Canelo would have any fans left would be pretty amazing if this happens. I'll support the fighters that are willing to step in the ring with anyone in their division and go up as well (Kovalev, GGG, Lomachenko etc). True fighters and not the divas of the sport.

Do you like any fighters not from Eastern Europe or Asia?

Tim Bradley seems to be willing to fight anyone. Wilder just went over to doping capital Russia to fight.

I respect both of those guys but not necessarily a fan. I don't miss Bradley when he fights. Deontay is an athletic powerhouse but he needs a whole lot of work still. I like Terence Crawford as well (but am picking Postol to beat him).

Most of my favorite American fighters are now retired but I'll still watch them. Thurman, he's another guy I really like watching fight.

You do know that ggg and kovalev haven't been moving up in weight

They haven't yet. Reread what I typed. Lomachenko just did, btw, and he was in my list. Why did you pick out the two guys one belt away from unifying their divisions? That's their goal for them both. Lomachenko has the opposite goal to start his career, to grab as many titles as he can as early as he can, apparently. He's already defended his WBO Featherweight title three times and is now going up to Junior Lightweight (Super Featherweight) to fight their WBO champ (Martinez).
