"In the Air Tonight" came on the radio as I was cruising to the grocery store this evening and I basically air drummed bruises on to my thighs. I started thinking, "holy shit is this good." But Phil Collins (the solo artist and Genesis leader post-Gabriel, not the drummer) has never done anything else great ever. He fucking sucks.

What are some other examples of absolutely perfect things made by not great artists? "Dream On" comes to mind for me. Aerosmith eats butthole, and yet they made one truly great song. What else?

There is this weird thing where it's easier to appreciate a song's genius when it is presented to you as opposed to fetching it yourself.

I tend to really listen when a song comes on the radio or a jukebox or in a movie unexpectedly.


As for this song, I'm not the biggest fan...it's good enough...but that drum fill is easily one of the GOATS.

I'm not a big Phil Collins or Aerosmith fan, but i gotta disagree with your assessment. Easy Lover, Against All Odds, and Wish it Would Rain Down are pretty good. I even found an appreciation for Sussudio after seeing Patrick Bateman bang to it. Aersomith has some other good songs like Train Kept a Rollin' and Back in the Saddle. I used to Like Aerosmtih more but burnt myself out on them when i was a kid and had their greatest hits tape. That and my musical tastes changed.

Einstein, are you serious dude? You can argue that he literally laid the foundation of modern physics. If a guy invents the cure of aids or cancer, are you going to say "meh that's all he did?"

Besides you are completely wrong on just the theory of relativity as well. He provided empirical evidence of atomic theory known as Brownian motion which proved that atoms and molecules actually exists, do you understand the magnitude of that alone? photoelectric effect, E=mc2 in relation to special theory of relativity and he published numerous papers that shaped the modern physics.

It can be argued that he has done more than any other man in history, it's not the number of contributions, it's the magnitude of his contributions and how it affected the future.
