As a skinny guy, what would be your suggestion for getting into decent enough shape for MMA, but also just not looking as skinny, especially in the arms.

Would you recommend I eat more first and then lift weights etc? Or should I eat more and go to the gym at the same time?

Also I know nothing about supplements and general healthy eating so any tips would be helpful.

search for novice programs here in sherdog.
use free weights for that strong forearm, do deadlifts
eat healthy, carbs before training, protein in every meal, no need for supplements.
when you get addicted to lifting, start taking protein shakes, thats all

I would go with your typical bulk and cut yearly cycle (calorie-wise). Going on a lean bulk you will put on a slight amount of fat, but come cut time (if you've been strength training properly), you'll have decent lean muscle on your frame. It takes time, its not like you're going to see results asap, maybe around 4-6+ months.

At the end, you'll be alot stronger than when you started, the benefits would transfer over to your sport, etc

Eating over your maintenance without any kind of lifting or exercise is just going to put fat on, nothing beneficial to that. Unless you meant having your meal during your workout? I wouldn't do that unless its a small snack like sipping on your shake, or a banana, etc

Should I just generally workout maybe 5 days a week for 30 mins, and eat as much good foods as possible and then i will see results? There surely isn't much too complicated to it other than those 2 things right? And i should eat mainly protein etc

It takes time to build muscle, you're essentially trying to add tissue to your body that wasn't there before.

You can eat as much "good foods" as possible and one of two things can happen:
-too much and you're over your maintenance by alot and you will gain fat
-too little, and you'll be a deficit (cutting), and results will be harder to attain. Its pretty rare for people to make gains when on a deficit.

What did you have in mind for the 5 days? 30min seems a bit short for strength training.
You'll get results, but you probably won't see anything significantly different until a bit of time.
I would keep protein at 1g per bodyweight, others like 0.8g/lean body mass, I've always found 1g to work for me.

At the end of the day its up to you, do what you want, if the results are subpar, do a proven routine and diet plan from here.

I'll leave this here as well.

It's more complicated than you might think. If it was easy, everyone would do it. You need the right diet plan for YOU. You need the right lifting program for YOU. It gets tricky when everyone has different ideas about what works (which is because different things work for different people).
Get an app like MyFitnessPal to track your calories (and macros, if you go that route). It'll help you stay consistent and you'll see where you need to watch your diet.

If you want to get in shape for mma, you need to do mma.

If mma is your goal, sign up and start training worry about weights and diet later. Remember you do t need to "get in shape" to start mma/boxing/bjj etc, etc. doing the sport will get you in shape.

i m slightly skinny i reckon. Now i started my diet plan, and later i will go for special workouts. Just some decent cario and clean diet is only im practicing now.

use natural body resistance. everything else is a crock of shit.

Steroids are the only thing that really works for skinny people..i was 115bs when I was 20 and was sick of being skinny so I stacked androstene and norandro-19 and started lifting and jumped up to 135 and stopped lifting and then years later started on Dianabol and Test and arimidex and now I'm 170lbs solid muscle and feel no side affects at all and I'm 34...my dad was like 110lbs so being 170 in my family is huge lol

I'm 6'4 and went into 9th grade at 155 pounds. A season of working out with the baseball team I went to 175 not really adding anything to my diet other than protein shakes post workout.

I then went from 18% bf 185 pounds to 7% bf 205 pounds from a cycle of ultradrol and eating a lot more.

If you're a skinny hard gainer the bottom line is this: stay consistent about getting into the gym and eat more. You will for sure gain muscle.
