A question about UFC brand sponsor

Can we all just be glad it wasn't Condom Depot or Dude Wipes?

I'd venture to guess that after Mask passed away (RIP), a lot of the success of TapOut dwindled and became less relevant. They were a big part of MMA's upbringing and left a big mark, but I am not sure that they're particularly relevant these days, sadly.

They should allow open sponsors again... This closed off uniform marketing scheme is bullshit...

Fighter pay wouldnt be such an issue with open sponsors...

I dunno if ESPN wants the logos on the shorts.

Xyience was a pretty good cash grab if I remember correctly but nothing compared to the reebock uniform garbage.

hehehe. I was never that far insane. Wasn't that the Diaz connection?

I do have a good pair of Sprawl and Throwndown MMA shorts but they are excellent quality.
yeah i think they did rock those! Hendo might've been sponsored by them for a bit, and a heavyweight, maybe Shane Carwin?

What makes you think they "overlooked" Tapout?

10-1 says they offered Tapout a chance to bid, and Tapout either didn't bid, or didn't bid high enough.

Now let me answer your next question before you ask it. Yes, it's totally consistent for UFC to choose the bid that is highest, over a lower bid with an emotional connection.

So when Reebok came along, I threw up in my own mouth. They had no association with MMA.
Now they are moving on to Venum. At least Venum, whether you like them or not are a legitimate fight brand and have been around for some time now.

But why would they overlook Tapout?

A founding name in MMA and though every billy-bob and Chav (UK) likes to wear a Tapout tee to the supermarket, they have been cult followed and still exist. Their stock must be huge on both sides of the Atlantic.

tap out is associated with dorks and doesn’t carry the same prestige as Reebok which is a true athletics company. Personally, I think they would’ve done better with under armour. Also associated with dorks, but produces way better equipment for mma types.
