I've known many people who are always busy with work, buried in the laptops, working side jobs and take no vacation time off. They like to brag they are workaholics but really have nothing to show for all their work. Not even a 6 figure income.

What I notice is they seem to have no social life. No friends or anything they do outside of "work".

I get it if people are busting their hump because they get a lot of wealth from working but those people who spend 60 plus hours a week, come in on their days off and make only 5 figures simply dont have anything better to do with their time.

lol

You're throwing the majority of people under the bus.

is normal.

If you are putting in executive hours and still being paid like someone who clocks out after 40 hours then you are simply playing yourself.

I don't think anyone here is hating on those who hustle to make a great living

Salaries also can hide how little you are actually getting paid if you are putting in large amounts of hours.

If you are getting paid $50K a year but putting in 60 hour work weeks you are only making $16 an hour. I was making that rate with my college internship, and there are a lot of grocery store workers that make that sort of money as well or even better. If you are well into a career and are managing to essentially hover just above minimum wage while having corporate responsibilities then you are absolutely a clown for staying

Some folks work to live, some folks live to work. Six figure income seems to be a very low benchmark for a “winner” imo.

The average yearly income in America is under $32k a year. Expecting everyone to be able to earn six figures is stupid. People bust their ass to to make ends meet and try to make a better life for their families. With the every rising cost of living and stalled incomes it is harder for people to improve their living conditions.

The fact that productivity is way up, yet wages dont show that is a major problem, especially for the middle class. Wealth is consolidated into fewer and fewer hand while most people fight for the table scraps.

Not everyone wants a social life.

The deification of work is a social ill.

Work to live, don't live to work.
There is living and then there is living. Most people have unrealistic expectations of what a fulfilling enjoyable life should entail and its often tied to materialism requiring an increased focus on money and the work that comes with it. Lot of people house poor, car poor, etc. living beyond their means chasing a false ideal and artificial happiness.
