A. Pettis needs to drop.

I think Pettis is a good fighter, I just think as he peaked he got matched up with favorable opponents. Now I truly believe he is where he belongs...in the middle of the pack, fighting the who's who of the division. He's certaintly talented, but that damn "Showtime" kick was the best and worst thing that could've ever happened to him. From now on, he's gonna win 2, drop 1, win 3 in a row, drop 1..ect.

So he has to go undefeated until the rest of his career to stay relevant?

Lol Pettis as big as Barboza, just less muscular.

Yeah. Barboza is super ripped, I wonder what's his walk around weight. He must be pretty solid even during his off season.

its the injuries, he can't train like he used to and is therefore regressing.

Pettis should wait for Henderson to become the Bellator lightweight champ, and then become the first man to take three belts from him in diferent organizations.

I think he needs to focus more on fixing holes in his game before attempting to move down.

I guess around 180/175+. Saw recently that in his kickboxing career he had 4 losses only, 4 decisions and one of them was a welterweight fight and he won the rematch and never fought as welter again. He is very ripped but i don't think he does cut a lot, in some of his videos you can see he is bigger off camp but still inside a "normal" looking level.

That would be so petty......I want to see it happen just for shits and giggles. Haa

Pettis is soft and pretty small frame wise. He's far from a big guy.

He also doesn't have anything athletically on his side. His boxing, offensively and defensively is subpar, as well as his wrestling. He even showed he can't deal with a faster and more efficient kicker, which is something he never had to worry about.

He does need to drop to 145 but I see him having problems with a tons of guys down there as well.

This is a hilarious suggestion. In reality I think Ben beats him now in a LW Bellator match.

IMO he's just been drinking his own kool-aid for too long. Happens to a bunch of athletes across a bunch of sports.
Too much time in front of the mirror outside of training... and also too much time in front of the mirror while actually training. Your 1-off flashy shit is not what you should build your tactics around.

He can say it's injuries and all that, but I think him worrying about how cool he looks on the big-screen checking his hair and eyebrows after the fight kind of shows a glimpse into the issues behind the scene.
Some athletes thrive off of struggle, and I think Pettis is more of the other end of the scale, sort of the glass-cannon type. He excels at winning with attacks, but lacks the fire if it swings away from him holding the hammer.

I think he needs to drop to 145 because of size but because he is losing ground at LW that he wont be able to make up. Follow the Frankie path the FW.

I share your sentiments. It honestly looks like he doesn't train the fundamentals or try to use it in a fight because it wouldn't be cool enough. I understand doing cool shit in your early 20's but at some point people are going to see that shit coming and stifle you. I hope the same doesn't happen to Yair.

It`s called Morbus Shogunus where reckless training dramatically shortens your peak as an athlete.

I remember around 2005 seeing training footage of then healthy Shogun and even back then thought "man that is some neanderthal ignorant training method. The harder you train the better you get does not play nice with your carthilage...etc.

I think Pettis can bounce back. He is nowhere done. Get some fire back, maybe change of training camp.

I guess CM Punk ruined him with his brutal WWE kicks and suffocating wrestling style. Its just not healthy to train with such a monster!

Yup his last 3 fights that he has lost he has looked tiny, he has clearly lost muscle mass, there is just no doubt about it. he needs to go to 145 or they might cut him, he has a very expensive contract, I could see them getting rid of him.
