Yeah, too bad he doesn't exist.

The real Aldo is too small and too worn out at this point to give Khabib a fight.
 
Khabib aint mendes. Truth is we just dont know if aldos antiwrestling would matter to khabibs relentless grappling prowess
 
Would've been a helluva fight. Not sure anyone else would be able to get leg kicks off vs Khabib and avoid a TD.
 
Nope, said it plenty of times. Aldo isn't nearly as good at defending takedowns against the cage, because he can't pivot off like he usually does to defend against shots. It would be as simple as pressuring him to the cage like he did against Barboza, then it's over.
 
Current aldo v. khabib would still be a hell of a fight. The eagle has relentless pressure with his grappling style, but aldo's weakness as demonstrated by holloway is crsip, technical striking not grappling.

Aldo is big FW, and very strong, i dont think size against Khabib would be a huge issue. I think Aldo could do well and mostly keep khabib off him for the first 2 rounds. Once he gets tired, he'd be in big trouble.
Aldo's only 31, i'm hoping to see him move up to LW and make a go of it. His speed would be an advantage, and who knows what he'd look like without the massive weight cut to 145. He still has a better chance against Khabib than most, in a 3 round fight anyway.

Agree it would still be a great fight. 3 rounder anyway. Tho Aldo's weakness is not striking, it's pace and output. In his long run, he was always able to control the pace of the fight. He couldn't do that with Max, that added to the fact that Max is super durable.

Yes.. Aldo at any size, in any division, is going to be a Championship threat.
 
I don't see this hypothetical matchup going much different than Khabib vs Barboza.

I think current Aldo would get murdered to be honest, he is finished as a top fighter.
 
Prime Aldo at any scaled up or down weight would destroy everybody except maybe GSP and Demetrious, and even those guys would at least struggle.

And yes, "everybody" including Jon Jones and Anderson Silva, neither of whom ever faced anyone close to Jose Aldo's level p4p.

Neither has Demetrious or GSP of course, but Demetrious, while operating in a shallow division, is the most complete fighter in the history of the game and GSP spent his prime in one of the deepest divisions facing almost nothing but challengers in good form on solid won streaks.

The same can't be said of Bones or Andy who, while both awesome and my two favourite fighters to watch in the history of the sport, built their legends in shallow divisions without becoming as versatile and well-rounded as DJ. (DJ's array of finishing techniques is the best ever.)
