I don't think that anybody with a functioning brain believed that he was going to get sent to prison for a first offense. The real issue is how easy it is for him to reenter the US after he takes a plea.

Anyone thought he going get jail time for this not that smart. He might get his visa suspended/revoked or get fined every why they can with him. I see bunch law suits in the near future and court taking money out his pockets.

Well yeah, he's not poor. Only poor people go to jail. They sometimes go to prison but that's only if they run afoul of the government...... which I assume McGregor will do at some point due to some form of tax evasion or fraud.
