Ok..I'm 6'2" 250lbs..need to drop 20 lbs in 8 weeks while maintaining muscle..I get 150+ grams of protein a day,I take fish oil and multi... I just need advice on a diet and what or if I need to take any other supplements..

read the faqqing faq bro. you are asking a frequently asked question. hmm.. where can i find the answers?

Lose or cut. If it's truly "lose" then you need a time machine.

20 lbs in 8 weeks is doable, though not really advisable. Search for Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fat Loss diet for one method. (Though you are likely to lose some strength on it) With a more moderate diet you could lose 15 lbs or so and do a small water cut for the last few if you're trying to make weight for something. Again, the search function is your friend. ("Weight Cutting Thread")

Here is something that generally gets peoples metabolism started...switch your meals. Eat what you would for dinner for breakfast (i.e. all your carbs in the am) then for dinner eat all protein eggs, meats etc. give it a try.

Did you miss that part about needing to lose over 2lbs a week?

I lost 30lbs in 30 days. You can do 20lbs in double the amount of time easily.

Stay dedicated.

Thanks for all the advice..I have a Muay Thai match in 10 weeks and I wanna be in the best shape as possible..I plan being right around 230..probl is I haven't seriously tried to lose weight on purpose in like 5+ years..so I feel like a noob

here's what Ive been doin the last 3 weeks: 2 mile run 4 days a week, 2 out of those 4 days I swith to sprint intervals been taking fish oil, multi and 150+ grams of protein a day

here's what I gonna start today for the next 2 weeks before I start up muay Thai training again: run 4 miles 2 days a week, lift 3 days a week , take same supplements but up protein to 200 grams a day

Was going to suggest "The Rapid Fat Loss Diet". I'm on it right now. Did about 5lbs last week (currently bloated up from refeed)

What's your bodyfat %?

If you're already pretty low it's going to be tough, but if you've got some extra pounds it should be very, very easy.

That's not much cardio. Why not just add a 30-minute cardio session every morning? Jump rope, bag work, bw circuits etc...

You shouldn't have to search long for the answer - that's an easy cut for someone your size, imo.

Is there a weight limit? Better to come in a little heavier than you'd like, rather than dehydrated and flat from trying to hit a number for the hell of it.

Bout 17 % bf.. So that's why I was aiming for 230 but I would be fine with 235-240 if my bf % was 9-11%...I've carried around extra weight for a while now and really haven't mind it either but as Im getting older I want my body to be as peak ad possible...and I think the 30 min a morning cardio sounds like something Im gonna do..would you suggest on a empty stomach ?

Should be easy at that weight. Eat 6x a day, small meals and count your calories.

Why 6 meals a day? What if he doesn't have the time for 6 meals? What if the portion sizes are too small?

150/6= 25 g of protein 6 times a day. That's a pretty small serving, less than a can of tuna.

If he counts his calories everday he'll lose weight? What if he counts to 6,000?

My constructive contribution: Look into the Rapid Fat loss Diet, as mentioned above. It did wonders for my dieting. I highly recommend it.

TS, the reason everyone is recommending Lyles Rapid fat loss is because it works. Specifically, it will help maintain an optimal amount of your current muscle mass and ensure you stay healthy while shedding fat and water.
If you stay disciplined and focused it is probable to lose the 20 lbs in 8 weeks.

My question to you, if I may, is you don't actually have to make it to 230lbs to compete, right? So why not just focus on I diet that will optimize energy levels for the increased level of training and recovery you will be doing? Just because you have some extra body fat doesn't necessarily mean you wont be at top condition come fight time.
Its not a bodybuilding contest you won't get your ass handed to you if you're not shredded.

that sounds crazy but it actually helped me. I switched from a regular job to a graveyard shift. started eating all my meals backwards and it was easier to burn off. Not sure if its scientifically accurate but it worked for me

I agree and understand what your saying...230 is just a general target ...I mostly want to lose weight for performance(ie. be quicker, faster and have a overall higher energy level) and I feel losing as much fat as possible will only make it easier on me to perform better...I don't need to be shredded but I just don't want any extra weight hinduring my athletic performance in any way...I have always been extremly athletic even with the extra weight and I ve always gotten by on that now that I'm maturing my goal is to not take my body for granted persay and be as sound in every aspect as possible...I appreciate all the help guys..I'm gonna try the flip my meals idea..cuz after hearing on this thread a buddy of mine that was in the military said a drill seargant would have "out of shape" soldiers do that to lower there bf%.

3 days of people suggesting RFL and you decide to do LSD on an empty stomach and flip your meal schedule? I hope you take you're skills training more serious than you take your diet, otherwise you're going to get the shit beaten out of you in your match.

Seriously, look into RFL.
