50 best movies of all time according to critics

Weird list. Lot of odd choices. It does have the GOAT though

bbEyHUG.jpg

Certainly a strong case for being one of the best looking films ever made.

Honestly though this "list" to me really tells you more about the vagaries of the ratings systems at places like metacritic than it does peoples real preferences, indeed most obviously that modern critics have a tendancy to be more positive about recent releases.

I tend to think lists are much better when there based on people listing there favourite films rather than just the average of everyones opinion. I mean a lot of the best cinema obviously divides opinion and something some people love and others hate is more likely to be interesting than something everyone quite likes.

FUck any website that won't let me run my adblock

And that's all I need to read.

In addition to what I said about critics in the other thread, they act as if they each are the President of what everyone should like.

In this case though its really not a list than any critric has actually compiled just an averaging of review scores. I'm guessing if you asked all the critics involved if Moonlight was in there top 10 favourite films the vast majority would say no.

Such a system is honestly probably biased to influence from politics as well since a high ranking depends mostly on a lack of negative opinion and if critics feel negative opinion will be politically unpopular there less likely to express it.

Yeah, I get it is a Rotten Tomatoes critics Top 50 List.

Anyone mention the movies that aren't on the list?

Terminator 2
Aliens
Saving Private Ryan
The Dark Knight
Titanic
Predator
Robocop
Pulp Fiction
Heat
Colateral
The original Star Wars Trilogy

I could go on and on...

Embrace of the Vampire should be #1 due to prime Alyssa Milano's perfect tits.

No:
Jaws
Terminator
Rocky
Good Will Hunting
Aliens
E.T
The Shining

40 Pulp Fiction (1994)

28 Toy Story (1995)

13 Some Like It Hot (1959)

5 Three Colors: Red (1994)

2 The Godfather (1972)

5 out of 50 may suggest I'm not a movie guy, which is actually not too far off the mark, but it's still a pretty poor list, from someone who is more than likely a pretentious twat.

Here is the list. Let me know what you guys think.

Pick one movie you would recommend is a must see for us.

I'm not too much into film so I haven't seen the most of them.

There are some movies on that list I have never seen. It is definitely a subjective list, though. Inside Out? Give me a break.

Some movies from this list that I would definitely recommend watching:

  • Zero Dark Thirty
  • Beauty and the Best (1991)
  • Gravity (this movie was outstanding in 3D IMAX)
  • 12 Years a Slave
  • The Godfather
  • Citizen Cane

No back to the future or rocky or even taxi or death wish i can't support this list

We have a list that doesn’t have Saving Private Ryan or Forrest Gump on it?? What a joke

I prefer to look through these lists and see what is too high, or doesn't belong at all, with my own smug opinion.

Boyhood #4

- Ummm, no. Not even top 500.

Gravity #24

- Perhaps if you have a 3D Imax screen in your house.

Moonlight #7

- Gay Boyz In The Hood. Not worthy.

The Social Network #30

- Basic bitch bio. Psshaw.

Hoop Dreams in the top 10 and Gone With The Wind isn't? Wizard of Oz isn't on this list at all? Ratatouille is the best animated movie ever? Boyhood is better than Goodfellas, Casino, The Untouchables, Empire Strikes Back, The Maltese Falcon that didn't even make the list? This list can suck on my Exorcist Balls.

Again I think any list is much better if its based on critics listing there favourite films, give me a film some like and some hate over one everyone thinks is ok anyday.

Sideways is above Apocolypse now? A collection of many different people's opinion is shit. They had to agree on incorrect answers to get this list done.

OH god. I missed 12 years a slave. That deserves a huge...
