5 nightmare HW match-ups for Daniel Cormier (past & present)

Bob Sapp circa 2002

Minowa after his Dream Superhulk GP win

Prime DC would very likely wreck pretty much any version of Reem.

I'd give him Big Nog by decision, too.

Cro-Cop presents interesting challenges for DC... but DC presents interesing challenges for Cro-Cop. Result? Interesting fight.

I think DC has a speed advantage over Werdum, but it's a little like the Cain fight... if DC is unwilling to go to the mat at all, Werdum probably wears him out with the thai plum... much better to go to the ground and try to avoid subs... but that's a dangerous game, too. Edge Werdum.

Fedor is DC but faster, stronger, with one punch KO power, and with subs. So clearly Fedor.

DC is just as strong as Fedor and pretty close in speed. DC also has better wrestling and TDD, Not saying DC would win, but he does have some advantages. He would definitely toss Fedor around a bit

Werdum has better striking than Cormier though. His MT is pretty decent and Cormier's ability to take knees and body shots isn't good.

Taking Fabricio down would be suicide considering's Cormier's sloppy top game.

I don't see how DC could beat Werdum tbh. He has a puncher's chance and not even a good one.

Top fighters pretty much never get subbed from guard any more

That's a very silly generalization.

It depends who's on top and who's on the bottom. Cormier's top game is as careless as Mark Coleman's (puts his arms in similarly dangerous positions).

yep cornier would get wrekt by previous top heavyweights. cornier came into the mma scene when they were fading so he looked good.

Sorry, but the Idea that DC Is equal In striking with Cain is absolutely ridiculous.

You would NEVER see DC outstrike JDS for 10 rounds.
Cain out struck JDS because of his wrestling. If it were a pure boxing match both DC and Cain would be flattened without fail.

Eh. I beg to differ. I think Cain at his very best is probably the best heavyweight we've ever seen. And I'm a huge fedor fan, I think fedor is probably the GOAT. But, Cain at his absolute best..In his prime, at his peak cardio, and tenaciousness..he was the best. Like the cain that MAULED JDS twice for 5 rounds each.

The guy's just been plagued by Injuries, bad luck, and everything else. He's been performing at far below the best we've ever seen from him and far below his potential. I believe Cain was en route to becoming the next great heavyweight In history and that just didn't happen.

If you were to judge Cain on his last few performances, sure. I'd probably agree there Isn't a massive difference between their striking.

That however Is a very short sighted analysis of cain's skillset at his full potential. It's possible you just have a very short memory, as Is the case with many fans these days It seems.

The reality Is DC's striking is NOWHERE near this version of cain.
As I said before he only out struck JDS because of the wrestling aspect of a MMA fight. Cormier can do the same thing.

DC would go 5-0

Finishes Cro cop, reem and fedor.

Decisions nog/doom.

Nightmare matchups? I think Cormier could possibly beat them all. Even GODFEDOR....probably better off fighting 30 something Fedor though. In a ring its harder on Cormier.

Notice how the people saying Cormier would win have no actual arguments. They just say."DC would win", lol

Style makes fights guys. These are all nightmare match-ups for Cormier. Guys who could neutralize his strengths and exploit his weaknesses.

I agree with 3, 4 & 5 the most. DC could just piece Nog up on the feet on route to a decision. Then DC could handle Cro Cop...similarly to how Fedor did.

Jon jones is the only man that beats prime DC. DC mauls your list with ease. DC destroyed Bigfoot who just beat the hell out of fedor.

You really are an idiot if you think it is anywhere close to as careless as Coleman's. I can find pictures of GSP putting his arms in "dangerous positions" to. Doesn't mean he doesn't have amazing sub D
