I really think it'd help with controversial decisions such as these, and in all fights that go to the scorecard in general. It would be especially helpful when a particularly inept judge is brought in to score a fight.

Also position them around the cage to give them all different perspectives of the fight. Thoughts?

More cooks in the kitchen = shitty stew.

Just have a clear system, one that takes into account the proper components. Bring in actual philosophers/students of MMA. NO MORE BOXING OR WRESTLING JUDGES. With those two changes made, 3 is fine.

Or just get rid of the fuckers and either have the guys fight until someone gives or everybody gets a draw. Stalling = DQ. The end.

I think all judges should be retired MMA fighters.

It's not a horrible idea but it doesn't change much as it's still a odd number and draws are still possible. Besides 2 or 3 judges who screw up in 3 judge fights would still be able to decide the outcome. Also the main issue with the judges is their hesitancy to score 10-10 and 10-8 rounds in addition to being boxing judges scoring MMA.

This wasnt a controversial decision.

So in this case, instead of people being mad that Gus lost a UD, at best they'd be mad that he lost a SD. How is that better?

Add more imbeciles to fold. That will help.

This is just like the bullshit about half points and fractional scoring when some of these idiots can't get the ten point must system right.

They need to keep this shit as simple as possible. The more complicated, the worse the decisions will be.

Have 5 Judges, All score, at end of fight randomly through out two of the score cards.

Question do the Judges log their score cards after each round, or can they wait until the end of the fight and score it anyway they want?

It's not the number of judges, but the judging method itself.

You can't borrow the 10 point must system from Boxing.

It works for boxing... which is SO 1 dimensional. And the high number of rounds make it more fair. But even then there is controversy.

The judging has to change completely. Each fight should factor Striking, Grappling, and Control. 3 different criteria.

who knows. these threads normally appear when we have a hotly contested split decision. TS just went full retard here though.

It wasnt a controversial decision, jones won, he controlled the pace but it was a close fight.

Gatorade And Nike Are sponsors. It doesn't matter if There Are 3, 5 or 7 judges. Their top fighters will never lose a decision

Yea, I'm sure Cecil Peoples is being apprised daily of Jon Jones sponsors.

Simple solution: Championship fights don't end until somebody is finished.

:D

Five judges would be better for sure. That still doesn't change the outcome of this fight though. Jones wins whether there are two more guys or not.
