49-0 Mayweather vs. 49-0 Marciano

I didn't think you misunderstood, it was more for anyone who would confuse the two. Stories like those are some of my favorite in boxing. It somewhat balances out the mob stories in my opinion.
Ahhhh....I hear you.

Oh, and can you think about how some of the boxing matches that took place yesteryear would NEVER happen today.

I mean, having a guy 140 lbs fighting a guy 215 pounds in a boxing ring????

What next, having an all time great fight a 12 rounder against a guy making his pro debut?

That is ridiculous. Such a thing is laughable at best. Well, there was that one fight with Marciano and Bob Hope for charity. Does that count?

I assume that Floyd would weigh 160 and Rocky would be 185 come fight night.

Who wins?

I assume that Canelo weighed roughly what Rocky does when he fought Mayweather...
I'd go with Rocky but mostly based on his size. Canelo probably weighed closer to 170 or 175. Mayweather could still win but he'd have to stay off the ropes and keep moving. I don't think holding on the inside would be effective for him against such a strong durable guy like Rocky.

Jersey Joe out boxed rock for 13 rounds moving, Charles as well made rock look bad while moving. Mayweather would have a good chance. Mayweather only went down once in 49 fights and that's when he broke his hand. He ain't that fragile. Whole discussion is stupid though. I was never sold on rock I think Liston would have stopped him if he hung around.
Those guys were a lot bigger than Floyd. Rock was a debilitating puncher, who wore guys down punching them anywhere he could land, even the arms. Floyd could win but this would probably end up like the Pep vs Saddler fights where he just gets worn down.

For What It's Worth:

""Joe Walcott, the welter-weight champion, and Fred Russell, of Minneapolis, went six rounds to a draw here tonight. Russell, who is a heavy-weight and big at that, was unable to do anything with Wolcott, and it certainly appeared as though the latter was entitled to the verdict, having forced the fighting throughout. When the men shaped up for action, there was so much disparity in their sizes and the affair looked ridiculous."

April 4,1902
Joe Walcott 140 lbs.
Fred Russell 215 lbs.
That's The Barbados Demon, Jersey Joe's namesake.

Modern nutrition also plays a huge part. They didnt have carbs, protein, or health fats back then. They lived on depression era canned goods. His sodium must have been through the roof.

Everyone knows that too little or too much sodium leads to cramping and severe medical conditions. Rocky would LITERALLY be dying during the ring walk, due to lack of proper nutrition.

These kids telling me Mayweather would lose to some scrub in a hypertensive emergency? PLEASE
Not if Rocky took an IV (to dilute the salt) in the dressing room. Retroactively approved of course. :D

Yes. That is correct. Not sure if anyone confused the two (hence the 140 lbs & 1902).

If I remember correctly, Arnold (or was it Harold) Cream took the moniker to give respect to the original.
Small guys beat bigger guys when they're just better fighters. Size alone is not enough especially when the bigger guy is slow.

Not to change the subject, but when Juozas Žukauskas took the name Jack Sharkey, he was doing it to combine Tom Sharkey and Jack Dempsey.

I can't think of another fighter that ended up fighting the guy he borrowed his "fighting" name from. Unless he took his name from the "original" Jack Nonpareil Dempsey,
I'm pretty sure he took it from The Manassas Mauler, who was the one that named himself after Nonpareil.

He invented them, and then shocked at the horror he unleashed on humanity, quickly banned them.

Reminds me of the person who invented the Polio vaccine. He invented it, and then quickly lobbied congress to ban it, realizing that he invented autism. I think is name was Dr. Franklin Rosebelt.

Crazily, Floyd has like half a foot of reach over Rocky. HW Marciano had a smaller reach than even Artem "T-Rex" Lobov.

You cant possibly be that fucking stupid. No way.

Your name is VitorReem. Look at what modern nutrition does! Fucking retard. Go back to the UFC forum before you even attempt to step to my modernized fighting and nutrition logics.
