Sean Strickland challenged Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title at UFC 293 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney last month, claiming the belt in one of the year’s biggest upsets.

As member of the City Kickboxing Gym in New Zealand and training partner of Australian stars like Alexander Volkanovski, it was general perception that Adesanya was the home fighter. However, Strickland started showering praise on Australia from the moment he landed in Sydney. He went on to further connect with the audience during the presser and had them rallying behind him on fight night.

Former middleweight champ Robert Whittaker, who lost his strap to Adesanya in front of his home crowd in Australia at UFC 243 in 2019, believes he knows why the crowd rallied behind Strickland. While the newly-crowned middleweight champ is known for his polarizing opinions, Whittaker believes Australians don’t get offended easily. “The Reaper” also noted that Adesanya just tends to rub some people the wrong way.

“And he seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way. And I’m going to say, Sean, you know, he was wearing the [Crocodile Dundee] hat. He was wearing the hat. That’s something. Maybe that’s all it takes.”

Crocodile Dundee Hat 1 - Izzy 0

Difficult to like a guy like Izzy after he kept using the N word over and over in the octagon to Dricus, calling him a cr*cker, aggressively claiming to be African when all along he was simply Chinese
If he’s really Chinese he’s the weirdest looking Chinese guy I’ve ever seen. I’m no expert though.

Izzy is a great fighter, but, fake person...Sean is more real, he just really tells you what he thinks and is...
I mean, the video with Izzy and the Dog was enough weird for me to call it a day and say...yeah, this guy is not right.
Izzy can be odd, I am cool, but, weird to the point you might be something else in the looney toon area...nah...as a person not a fan of the guy...just like when Drag Queens think they can act and dress like porn stars in front of kids.. thats just sick and twisted and that crap needs to stop now.

As a fighter he's ok to sorta enjoyable. As a person prolly the same. I don't stock much beyond the fight/fighter. Personalities, lives, etc. are all tertiary crap and hold little to no bearing in me liking a fighter or following their career.

If Nina Drama likes him he must be legit ;)

I was indifferent to Sean, thought he was a funny goofball but I wouldn't have been angry if Izzy won, a lot of his act was largerly trolling but the more you see the real side of him the more I respect him, compared to a lot of other fighters he seems more relatable.

He seems far more morally grounded and mature than people give him credit for and I love the fact he is not an materialistic person like many of the UFC champions that have continually paraded themselves ever since Conor. Even though he can be an unhinged sociopath at times I do find him endearing with his chaotic clumsiness. He represents a better role model and shows stronger character than guys like Conor, Israel, Jones and many other decorated fighters.

I wish him the greatest of success and hope we get to see him get a few title defences to became of the greater champions at MW.

Rumours that he sucked his dog off lol?! Based on what?
It was jerking off the dog, not sucking it off. And it wasn't a rumor - there was a video of him doing it that he posted himself. (An old video that no one ever paid attention to before.)

When that came back up, someone did a deep dive and found out he's into all kinds of weird dog related shit such as following porn where a girl acts like a dog, making weird references to dogs, etc.

Slightly off-topic, but it's fucking insane that Izzy and Rob were seen as the top dogs at middleweight just a year ago and not many thinking they could be beat by others in the division.

Now both just got beat handily by DeSean and DDP, not many saw that coming. Crazy shit.

Izzy is the epitome of this confused generation.
He goes to BLM rallies. Hates Trump. Race baits (probably believes in critical race theory)
Dyes his hair pink, does his nails, wears pearls. Uses edgy terms like 'cap'.

Behind closed doors he fondles his dog (probably into bestiality) and has admitted that if his dog could talk he would reveal dark secrets about him.

Paints nails and wears a dress? Not sure why Strickland was the favorite.
