He's definitely focus on oblique kicks Saturday night.
Honestly I dont think he should try playing the kicking game w Gane,he needs to get in his face and shoot for the legs. Standing at long range w Gane is his world. This is HW my dude. He's definitely focus on oblique kicks Saturday night.
He'll def take him down and probably early. He's too smart in ring not to do so. But I think he will probably stand with Ciryl in later rounds if he can't get him out of there early. Both because wrestling a heavyweight is tiring and because of his ego.Honestly I dont think he should try playing the kicking game w Gane,he needs to get in his face and shoot for the legs. And eye pokes, so Gane can't see where he's moving. He's definitely focus on oblique kicks Saturday night.
If he is standing w Cyril in later rounds its because he has no choice but to.He'll def take him down and probably early. He's too smart in ring not to do so. Jones has got alot of varied strikes, and he selects them in ways that make them hard to predict. The size difference though may make him less quick, and he may have to work harder to land those against a guy w the reach of Gane, who also is a patient fighter, who doesnt really run into wild stuff,BUT can get caught backing out as Tuivasa fight showed us. Jones mentioned that,so you know that is part of the plan.Jones standup is excellent, he might not have power but he's defensively sound and has chosen to stand with strikers to prove a point. I think as a plan B he could stand with Gane assuming he's not blown away by his power, but Gane isn't really know to be a powerful guy. I could see Jones outpointing in a gritty standup war. Gane is technical for a HW, but lets not forget how good Jones standup is. Even with that, he has his wrestling which is Gane's weakness and that's Jones A game.
IDK. The guys we've seen move up to HW weren't really slower, although it could be a possibility with the layoff. Usually it's HW power that is what tilts the odds away from their favor when they move up and Gane has power, but he's not a Ngannou or something. I think what could happen is that they are playing outside game striking and Jones doesn't like some of the strikes Gane throws and starts hesitating more than he would at LHW where he's usually more aggressive.Jones has got alot of varied strikes, and he selects them in ways that make them hard to predict. Jones new physique makes me think he will be slower and wont have the gas to go 5 if he eats some of Gane's teeps like Tai did.IDK. I mean Gane has cardio, but I wouldn't put him on the same level Jones was at LHW. Sure he's probably slower and not a natural HW. I just don't see Jones gassing. Dude is intelligent first of all, he knows what he can do and can't before the fight starts. He'll take off a round if needed, stay defensive and rally in later rounds. I don't think this is the fight Jones is going to start throwing haymakers to test his HW power. All the shit people talk about the Reyes fight, he still took over the 2nd half of the fight. I also can't think of any LHWs with good cardio that moved to HW and lost it. Jones is a little thicker but not like out of shape like people are making it.Jones new physique makes me think he will be slower and wont have the gas to go 5 if he eats some of Gane's teeps like Tai did.
He's not as defensivley irresponsible as Tai obviously, but this is a new weight class for him.
He took over the 2nd half at LHW against a guy w no experience fighting in the 5th rd. Thats not Gane. Jones wasnt carrying all that extra weight either. Sure he's smart and will try to conserve energy as best as he can but its still uncharted territory for Jones. Gane looks like in striking he can go 15 rounds.I mean Gane has cardio, but I wouldn't put him on the same level Jones was at LHW. Sure he's probably slower and not a natural HW. Jones took over the second half of the fight at light heavyweight against every opponent who ever made it to the second half of the fight, except where there was no takeover because Jones was clearly winning the early part of the fight.Jones has had lots of close rounds in fights; not one of them has ever been a fourth or fifth round. He took over the 2nd half at LHW against a guy w no experience fighting in the 5th rd. Most of his opponents hadnt had experience fighting to the 4th and 5th. Also if we look on the last fight, that was the only thing that really saved his ass in that one.Jones took over the second half of the fight at light heavyweight against every opponent who ever made it to the second half of the fight, except where there was no takeover because Jones was clearly winning the early part of the fight.Jones has had lots of close rounds in fights; not one of them has ever been a fourth or fifth round.
Gane isnt a known KO artist, Jones has fought better heavy hitters then Gane. Id liken this fight to the Gus fight. Hes dealt with this type of fighter before.Honestly I dont think he should try playing the kicking game w Gane,he needs to get in his face and shoot for the legs. Thanks! I thought so too. This definitely needed its own thread.
He hasn't because he has not fought at heavy weight. Who's the heaviest hitter John has faced?Gane isnt a known KO artist, Jones has fought better heavy hitters then Gane. Id liken this fight to the Gus fight. Hes dealt with this type of fighter before.
If he's gassed he might not take the hits as well.Gane isnt a known KO artist, Jones has fought better heavy hitters then Gane. Id liken this fight to the Gus fight. Hes dealt with this type of fighter before.
Jones is going to go D1 Ngannou on Gane's ass.Jones standup is excellent, he might not have power but he's defensively sound and has chosen to stand with strikers to prove a point.
