His power is the great equalizer. He is technically very good, but it felt like Izzy had the technical edge but Poatan power was the great equalizer. Wilder of MMA, and like Wilder that power can make you into a champion in 1/4 the time.

But you can't say he wasn't trying to finish if he definitely almost finished him. He threw that right over the top several more times in the fight; it never connected the same.

You can look at his past fights and see that he's often not shown an abundance of interest in trying to finish the fight. He's certainly capable, but not overly willing to assume the risk.

Pereira hits hard, Izzy was hurt everywhere. If it wasnt cause of the third round I think would have been stopped before. IMO. Nice fight.

No, backing up in a straight line directly to the fence every round cost him the fight. He even had his hands up when he got caught, unlike earlier in the fight when he was trying to be cute with his hands down and actually got away with it. Maybe this will teach him the rule of not taking 2 steps back, but probably not considering his age and experience level.

Yeah, he was put against the fence way too much. I mean, other guys have tried but not produced results. From what I can remember of his previous fights, when Izzy gets backed to the fence, he'll juke and/or feint and dash laterally one way; not sure why that didnt happen that fight; either pride or effective pressure from Pereira.

Izzy was cruising to a solid win by keeping his distance with counters, holding him against the cage and even a takedown with ground control.

It felt like he was hunting for a KO of his own to avenge his losses, and it went downhill quick.

Just happy no more Wakanda champs! Both Wakandan’s Usman Izzy will lose rematch.

Yup he could’ve ended it anytime but waited on that 1 shot. He wasn’t active until the 5th when he started letting his hands go.

I don't really agree. It seemed like Izzy was never really comfortable when Alex was landing his stuff. Like Alex had the power the whole time Izzy was just doing a really good job at either clinching immediately or retreating

and then Alex caught him and Izzy couldn't clinch and was really fucked up

yep, Pereira trapped him against the cage.

Earlier in the fight he was landing those sharp jabs against the cage and in the end he combo'd it up for a finish.
