Randy has a point right?

We think, ‘Oh, it will never happen to me,’ and unfortunately, it is going to happen to a lot of us if we don’t take care of this window and opportunity we have.”

Couture can understand why fighters miss that window. He fought his way to the top and was privileged to be one of the promotion’s biggest stars. That didn’t shield him from mistreatment, in his view. But he didn’t immediately realize the best way to win better working conditions from promoters was to band together.

Like everyone else plying their trade in the cage, Couture’s mission was a selfish one. And the UFC, ultimately, rewards those who reach the top the the lion’s share of the resources. Many times, they invest beyond what a fighter takes home on fight night, fostering a deep sense of loyalty.

Always thought back then it was fucking hilarious how this guy was crying about money then it was all about respect.

Union will never happen in MMA. Just like there has never been one for combat sports. It just doesne't work in a model where you are out with a couple losses for a majority of guys. It's not a leaegue model where it's not as much kill or be killed in a few innings or gamese. And It's always big names who is crying about the money when they are millionaires, which Randy is.

It's very convenient front, that's used by every human being alive past present and future, to pretend that they are doing it for the others.

I'm 1000 percent for fighters getting paid more, but I don't lose sleep over night that millonaires is missing that extra zero at the end of their bank statement. Oh poor Randy

Do people really think these guys are doing it but for themselves?

With that said, I don't care if a guy tries to play his hand for better pay. I mean good for him, go get it tiger, but to suggest he's some Joan of Arc fighting for better cause, get the fuck outta here

I'm still traumatized from googling Randy's shit when it was leaked, just outta curiosity

Randy is right, remember when GSP set up a fake union with Bjorn so he could pressure the UFC into a better deal for his comeback lol.

Oh look!
Another dumb thread made by a dumb kid who believes in collectivism.
How original.

Unless every UFC champion is willing to go “on strike”. I just don’t see it happening. But since the champs are actually making real money. That doesn’t seem likely to happen.

100% of the roster needs to go on strike or nothing will change. Just like every other workforce in history had to do to form a union. And thereby achieving what they considered to be fair working conditions for a fair amount of pay.

If they won’t stand up for themselves. Why should I as a mere fan of the sport actually care? The amount of pay they receive has nothing to do with how much I might enjoy two minimum pay fighters duke it out. When there are people getting paid a lot of money to bore me to sleep?

They ALL deserve more money. So fuck off with saying I’m a UFC shill. But when Angela Hill is making $74K to show. I find it hard to get into the whole conversation.

Remember Sam Alvey saying this in 2016:
"I'm strongly against the unions," Alvey said. "I've said it before. The unions want to pay everybody the same amount, and I don't support that. Conor McGregor earned his multi-millions by the way he runs his mouth and the way he wins. As much as I'm not a fan of his, I'm with that.

With a union, he wouldn't be worth that. He wouldn't get half of what he's asking. Now for some of the guys that don't stand out like him, I think a union could do well. But I think that they are taking something from someone that has earned it."

The UFC middleweight then explained how he aims to make more money in the future, and the route he would prefer to go down.

"Myself, I don't want it, because I think I'm going to be worth every penny of what Conor is," Alvey said. "I just need to get that win streak going and run my mouth a little bit. With a union like that I just don't like it.
How did that work out for you, Sam? <Lmaoo>

It worked for him, none of the other fighters were popular enough to get leverage out of it.
