Got caught by Prime Woodley...no shame in that
Decisioned by an incredibly durable RDA in a 5 round fight...no shame in that
Controversial stoppage against Askin after almost KOing him...no shame in that
Decisioned by the most conditioned fighter in the division- Colby Cov...no shame in that
Decisioned by Magny, who was a horrible matchup as great cadio, wrestling and chin...no shame in that

Then comes back and KOed former contender Nick Diaz

With the right matchups, Lawler is still a top 10 WW and potentially top 5

I think he would do good against Masvidal, Wonderboy, Edwards and Burns

Luque would give him trouble...Belal would be a tossup

He's kind of like where Anderson was after he lost the MW title.

Can put up a good fight against anyone, and hang in there for 5 rounds, but will likely lose to most of the top 10

bruh Colby teed off on his head like he was practicing with a speed bag, he's done at the top level

5 rnd matchup favored Colby over 3 rnd matchup

Plus Colby is #2...behind Usman but leaps ahead of the rest of the division

He looked very good against Diaz. Physical and aggressive. I'd like to see if he can bring the same intensity against a guy ranked 10-15.

He needs to only accept 3 rnd fights...no 5 rounders

It's not that he's lost to top 10 fighters, it's how he's losing to them. He had nothing for those guys except Askren, Cerrone and Diaz.

If you're bringing up Neil Magny's ground game, there's a problem

I'm a huge fan and I think with the right matchups he can win a fight. But he is 39. He isnt itching to fight very often either.

The man is a warrior, but he’s old as hell. Dude is basically 40 years old, has been doing this for more than 20 years and has 44 or 45 fights or whatever is. Let the man retire, and somewhat soon hopefully.

You aren’t elite if you get destroyed by a gate keeper like Magny. Lawler is a legend though.

Bruh you can't be 40 years old and had the wars that Lawler's had and not be done.

Props to him - he's had an incredible career and it's great to see him get another W before he goes out. But let's be real bruh, that Nick Diaz probably doesn't beat anyone in the top-25 at WW.

I really like how you justify a bunch of consecutive losses and then focus on his lone win over an opponent who hasn’t even competed in years and looked absolutely terrible in there.

His win over Diaz wasn’t even him looking all that good; it was Diaz looking bad. I love Lawler and I wouldn’t mind seeing him in some fun fights (like the Diaz one for instance) but if you think he’s cracking the top 10 ever again you’ve lost your damn mind.
