Idk why a lot of you guys here hate the match. You may have hated the outcome, but why hate the match? I liked how it was supposed to be a technical shutdown for Ciryl but Francis displayed grappling skills he never did in any fight. Ciryl himself had spots showing grappling prowess but his inexperience costed him round 5 and the entire match.

If there's one thing to truly despise, it's the production values of the card.

DC was unbearable as usual as a commentator: "he slammed him like a Vader Bomb!"

Bruce Buffer is cringey and awful. He needs to have been replaced 10 years ago.

And what the hell is up with Herb Dean? Maintaining that awkward 20 seconds of whatever between the fighters right before the round starts. I know he's doing that because it takes a while before the cage closes. Why the hell don't those people speed up cleaning the cage between rounds?

Oh and the awful, awful tweets during the broadcast?! Who needs to see that shit? It doesn't contribute ANYTHING to the entertainment value.

Each guy fought how they had to... Gane keeping Francis at distance with his low kicks and Ngannou hunting for power shots til he was spent and then finding another way to implement his strength (grappling/takedowns) when he could no longer be a danger striking... So strategically I can't criticise either guy too much.. however both guys were pretty passive and ineffectual in searching for something that could win the fight. It was a dull scrap and didn't win me over to either guy's greatness. They were celebrating side control like it was a new invention and one of the worst leg log attempts in the UFC. When they have to congratulate a champion just for knowing what a kimura is then that says a lot

Gane would win if they rematch IMO. But Francis may just retire from MMA to pursue Boxing (?).

Those tweets are absolute garbage. Get that shit off my.screen and stop taking up space. Fuck all those non-mma related people who's tweets they show.

They are the true hardcores, that's why their opinions get displayed on screen and ours don't.

Yesss. We absolutely need more educated people that also matter way more than us to tell our stupid, stupid brains what is going on. How the fook are we supposed to know what to feel without all those tweets?

Francis was compromised. His knee was in bad shape. While Gane was healthy.
TBH I favor Francis in an immediate rematch pretty heavily if both fighters are 100% healthy.
But after Gane gets a few more fights and in a couple years? IDK

While I agree that the production values have become monotonous to the point of exhaustion, the fight itself was not a good one. Neither found much success on their feet nor displayed particularly notable combinations, skills, or movement. Gane moved out of harm's way, Ngannou was careful not to blow his load but has rudimentary fundamentals. The grappling was similarly mediocre. So we get a technically mediocre non-intense fight. Worst of both worlds.

Also, don't forget Joe Rogan's insufferable existence.

You can add to the list the translator for Gane's Corner. The guy was UNBELIEVABLY bad.
Basically the coach was saying: "You need to land some headkicks. They landed flush in that round. Once your hurt him with a kick, your punches will land but you have to hurt him first."

The translator, literally, translated that in: "Kick the leg"

It would have been good if Francis could have got off some more offence from the top, in the later rounds. I think Gane was tired too and he could have kept his position. But it was a good competitive fight.

I don't have any problems with DC, Herb Dean (other than late/early stoppages) or Buffer (best announcer after crazy Pride lady) or tweets. The production quality is objectively good, subjectively great. I have a problem with the quality of the fights though when literally 60-95% of fights are just fillers. One stacked card a month would be great or even two if some of the more popular fighters start fighting more frequently.

This is one of the worst production decisions ever.

Why would you put something on the screen to divert my attention from the action, when in literally the blink of an eye the most exciting thing could happen and the match could be over?

So I can see how some random journalist scored Round 1? They need to kill that shit.

Buffer is terrible. Someone needs to tell him he's barely part of the show.
