I understand that Yair vs Chikadze would be an incredible fight, but I'm worried that after the damage Chikadze took he may need a bit of a step back in competition.

I think Chikadze vs Burgos would be a fun fight, Burgos is essentially a lesser version of Kattar and always puts on a fun fight

Would be good comeback fight

Burgos is another heavy hitter, dont think it will be a clever move to face Burgos right now
Burgos is not pressure fighter + he is really slow compared to giga and he could be koed
Shots which katar ate from giga would knock out burgos

I agree whilst Burgos is very similar to Kattar, he does not have the chin that Kattar does

Everyone's trying to matchmake Chikadze right now when the guy clearly needs time off. He took a living fuck ton of damage, and while I doubt he'll do this, 9 to 12 month layoff to recover and improve some of his deficiencies wouldn't be bad idea.

Giga got his overconfident ass whooped so hard, he needs at lest 6 month to recover.

I'd like to see Giga take at least six months off before even considering a fight. Then we can see the state of the division.

As it stands now, the guys who make sense for him in the rankings are Burgos, Ige, Evloev, or the upcoming winner of Yusuff/Caceres. But yeah, recovery and such first.

Would be better for Giga to heal up and then fight a fellow top striker like Yair. Giga's a very good, dangerous striker, especially early. Burgos leaves himself open too much, it wouldn't be competitive.

I don't really get why Burgos would get that fight, he just lost to Barboza who just got finished by Giga. Doesn't make sense to me.

Burgos willingness to pressure will be hard to deal with.
I thought the same vs Barboza but Edson beat him

Yeah, but in the intervening time he also won a pretty dominant decision over Billy Quarantillo (solid prospect, 4-2 in the UFC/DWCS combined going into the Burgos fight) while Chikadze just took the beating of a lifetime when he tried to move up. I agree it's a bit of a jump for Burgos considering Billy was unranked and Shane was on a two-fight skid prior, but the issue is that lots of other dudes below Chikadze are booked. There are other options for each man of course: Ige makes a lot of sense for either one. Then there's the winner/loser of Yusuff/Caceres. Evloev will always need a new opponent, not to mention Topuria will likely be entering the rankings if he beats Jourdain (not sure about vice versa?).

This is at least partially fluff though because we don't know what the division will look like by the time Chikadze is healed up and ready to actually sign another fight. As for Burgos... guy's got a few options.

Couldn't have said it better myself, can see Burgos getting the loser of Yusuff/Caceres as well or another fighter just outside the rankings like Andre Fili or Zubaira Tukhugov

Burgos should be quite below Giga looking at his record. Yair vs Giga would be a much better fight. Giga needs half a year or more to recover, though.

Man, I hope Giga plans on taking 6-12 months off and isn't looking for a comeback fight right now. Geez.... health is still a real thing.

Unless he goes transhealth and identifies as healthy. Then maybe it's not biological after all. It seems we're in the right age for that stuff.

I like the matchup but surely Burgos will be ready to fight much sooner than Chikadze. Maybe Burgos can get one more fight in and fight Chikadze in the summer.
