Before we discuss the rematch i haven't seen too many posts stating the fact that Nunes connected clean and hard on Penas chin while getting tagged herself.

I think Pena hasn't taken alot of damage in her career and she has the super chin that Amanda can't take out.

In a rematch im picking Pena. Just a terrible style matchup for the female goat. And no, i did not pick her to beat Amanda the first time.

Upon rewatching the classic that is to be Nunes/Pena 1. It will stand the test of time and im happy it took place in my time.

She has a helluva chin, but Nunes isn't going to gas herself out in 1 round in the rematch. I think she terribly underestimated Pena in the first fight. I doubt it will happen again. That loss is going to be huge motivation for Nunes.

It was a fun fight for sure. Watching it back knowing what ends up happening, it’s almost more enjoyable. One of the more fun fights I’ve seen in awhile

This "gassing out thing" is a terrible excuse. Having good cardio is part of the game. In fact, it's a huge part of it.

Now she did just have Covid so maybe that was a factor, that's not the same thing as just saying "well she was winning until she gassed out."

Disagree. Conditioning is conditioning. Nate Diaz can take a beating but last with cardio into the 5th. You don't gas just because you take shots. She started to get beat up BECAUSE she was gassing.

I mean it's not an excuse. But it is a good indicator that she didn't take the fight seriously compared to her recent performances. I doubt that will happen in the rematch after getting embarrassed like that.

Nunes hasn't fought someone with a solid chin and grit plus a wrestling background in the UFC for a while

2-2 against them in the UFC
Zingano & Pena as losses
Tate & Mcmann as wins

Soon to be 2-3 after Pena beats her again

Not sure exactly when the tide turned but it looked like Nunes was rattled by a hard jab. Even still though it wasn't Cerrone McGregor off Amanda didn't look like herself either.

My humble opinion...I think Nunes under estimated Pena. Nunes has basically steam rolled the competition at 135 and may not have trained hard, at least it looked that way to me. Nunes did great in the first round, but she shit the bed and gassed hard. When she got tagged, she went into massive brawl mode and gassed hard. Pena kept her cool, took the shots but gave a lot back, eventually Nunes just could not keep up the pace and got choked.

The choke didn't look all that dominating, but it worked and Nunes tapped.

In a rematch, if Nunes trained for a 5 rounder and keeps her cool, she has the strength and tools to get the belt back. If she swings for the fences, she will gas and lose.

The rematch will be awesome...Pena could very well be the new dog on top, but if Nunes trains hard it could be a tough night for Pena.

Always awesome to see the underdog win. That was a great damn fight for as long as it lasted. Great stuff.
