both do their job very well. who would you say is the cureent GOAT gatekeeper though?

After beating the shit out of Till and being a win away from a title shot, it's a little hard to call Brunson a gatekeeper right now, even though it's what he's been for most of his career.

Blaydes is weird. He hasn't really faced a lot of up and comers. He's just had bad luck and some really bad timing with his two most recent losses, but he's always just there on the verge of getting a crack at the belt. I almost wouldn't even call him a gatekeeper at this point. Rozenstruik and Volkov are more gatekeeperish imo.

The true gatekeepers of the UFC right now are Munhoz, Barboza, Hooker, and maybe Smith.

Brunson does the job better.

Brunson only lost to champs in the ufc (Jacare was the strikeforce champ)

I wouldn't actually say either of them is a gatekeeper.

Brunson was, but now he's a win away from a title shot.

Blaydes might eventually be one, but right now he's still a contender in a shallow division.

Brunson since he finishes the hype jobs

Dude this is Sherdog. If you aren't the current champion you are a gatekeeper. As soon as the champion loses he is past prime. Basic Laws of Sherdog

Blaydes is a perennial top 5 heavyweight so that's not really a gatekeeper. I don't think Brunson outgrew his role as gatekeeper. The division got significantly weaker with the decline/departure of Romero, Jacare & Weidman. Same old Brunson...
