The fighting style that produced the most champions by far. It would be nice to see how many came from a NCAA background. me0qbh7xm6i71-1.jpg

Another estimation involving select wrestlers that wrestled in high school and all ncaa wrestlers. The final number is 33 champions (more than the number on the graph)

Wrestling should only be used to finish your oppponent after you rocked him and he turns into a Panic wrestler, then you Smash him on the ground or choke his panic ass out.

That’s stupid, not everyone is a gifted striker. It should be used to make your opponent tentative in their approach and to set traps, tire your opponent, punishing them for missed power punches, setting up submissions and ground strikes. It should NOT be used to stall the fight, preventing damage to both fighters while making sure only you are scoring points.

I wouldn't consider Nate Diaz a gifted striker, but he stockton slapped the shit out of Conor till he panic wrestled, and Nate choked his ass till he tapped.

Shouldn’t we take base rates into account? If wrestling is by far the most common primary fighting style, it’s not surprising that most champions are wrestlers. Similarly, if very few fighters have a Karate background, it’s expected that few champions would have that background

No one ever should.Learn some TDD,lads.

Aldo learned awesome defensive wrestling and is extremely difficult to take down, despite being a stand up fighter...whats everyone else's fucking excuse?

I think most people have no issue with wrestling in general, it’s the wrestlers who the lack the ability to finish that people aren’t a fan of.

I think this will be skewed by the effectiveness of a martial art. For example, kung fu is a common fighting style and given the many kung fu vs mma/boxing freak show fights in China, I'd reckon a lot of kung fu practitioners will want to make the ufc. However, judging by how the freak show fights go, I don't think you can judge kung fu as super effective just given on the few people with the background who have made it.

Also Khabib did make wrestlers look silly when he was still fighting. More of a testemant to his skill and Gaethje's lack of grappling than of the merits of wrestling.

Nate's timing off the jab is excellent. He stuns alot of people with combinations that they were not expecting to be there. The second hit here comes out of nowhere. That timing on the second punch is exactly how to turn brains into scrambled eggs. (the first combination attempt, especially)
