Conor Mcgregor passed the "wrestler test" against elite grappler Chad Mendes, on two weeks notice, nonetheless.

Some will say that the mythical "Full Camp Mendes" would have beaten Conor, without considering that the irishman was preparing for Aldo, a whole different opponent, and that "Full Camp Conor" would've also been a different beast.

As someone who picked Mendes to win, I can now appreciate the boderline heroic feat pulled by Conor.

He faced arguably his worst matchup on the whole roster on short notice and rose to the occasion. After a tough first round, Conor didn't pull back and kept going forward until his foe was laying unconcious on the canvas - in an incredible display of heart

"It was UFC president Dana White who called me and asked how we felt about Chad Mendes stepping in to fight Conor for the belt. Conor was sleeping at the time so I walked into his room and told him it could be Mendes instead. He opened one eye, said ‘They're all the same' and then went back to sleep. That's as far as any negotiation went."

Meanwhile, Izzy froze like a deer in the headlights after Jan landed the takedowns. He had no answer at all and barely attempted to get back on his feet, the nigerian became timid, and accepted his defeat. That's to say, albeit bigger, Jan is nowhere near Chad Mendes' level.

We now know that Adesanya's lack of heart and grappling acumen would've resulted in a one-sided beating had he faced Jon Jones, or even someone like Prime Chael Sonnen. As the old adage goes, there are levels to this game, and Adesanya is just not on the level of Conor McGregor.

<bball1> shut up bro. This was literally Adesanya's 205 debut in MMA. He had never fought at that weight previously in MMA.

Just give credit to Jan. He fought a highly intelligent fight, unlike Alvarez who haf been looking disappointing in most of his UFC performances.

Just because another mma fighter lost it's not an excuse to nutthug your favorite fighter and make up crazy reasons in your own head as to why this makes any sense. Stop it.

Izzy could teach Conor how to check calf kicks.

Different amount of weight. Plus coming in to fight, Jan wasn't really known for his takedowns, let alone his wrestling is not one of his main strengths in his UFC. The wrestling comes as a surprise for Izzy. Chad was always known as a wrestler since day 1.

Izzy is the better striker though.

Also never been finished and has shown so much more heart.

If getting submitted multiple times is successful then yeah, congrats

People on here don’t seem to understand the gap between 185 to 205lbs is 20 lbs. That’s a huge difference.

Conor only faced wrestlers in his own division and 10lbs up.

What u really wanna tell us, TS, is this: Izzy is ahead of Anderson as MW GOAT.

You are right, Izzy has the much better resume at this point already.

Another ti consider is that Conor had previously fought at 155 and really drained himself to make 145. He's really a 155er.

Passed the wrestler test against undersized, out of camp, short notice Mendes (who by the way ragdolled Conor as if he was nothing the whole first round).

Also since when Jan is a wrestler?
Conor was preparing for Aldo, not an All-American D1-Wrestler with the best blast double in the game.

GTFO with this bs. Adesanya beat Romero (an onlympian), Brunson, Gastelum, among others. He has passed the "wrestler test" more times than Conor has and in his own weight class, not one he would have to kill himself to make.
